Watercolor Note Cards

01-20-2014

This weekend I spent time in my craft room trying some new things. I see beautiful cards by other crafters who watercolor their stamped images and I wanted to give it a try.

First I need to confess that I often jump into things and then when it is not turning out right I say "perhaps I should read the manual" OR "maybe I should do more research on how to do this".

The card above is an example of just jumping in. I started with the new Watercolor Note Cards from the Occasions Catalog.  I stamped a flower from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set with Stazon Black Ink directly onto the note card three times staggering the flowers as if they are growing up onto the card.  Then I began my hand at watercoloring.  I used Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight Ink Pads and my Aqua Painter and Blender Pen to color the flowers.  The stems are Gumball Green. It was fun and with some practice my results will improve.

I have perfectionistic tendencies and can easily find fault with my results.  Then I decided to add  the sentiment from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set to remind me that my card does not need to be perfect to be wonderful.  I stamped the image using Smoky Slate ink on Smoky Slate card stock and using my Apothecary Framelits cut it out to really focus on the sentiment.

While the watercoloring results are not perfect I am pleased with my card. It would make me smile to receive this in the mail.

So are you a read the manual kind of person or someone that just jumps in and learns through doing? I would love to hear from you!

Check back tomorrow for more Stampin Mojo!
