A Sparkling Sketched Birthday

Birthday 01-18-2014

Happy Saturday!

I hope you had a great week.  While work is exceptionally busy with the kick off of the new year and we are celebrating the wrap up and successes in 2013.

My card today was created to celebrate the birthday of another special colleague at my office this past week.  She is someone who is ALWAYS doing something to make another's day better.  She is one of those individuals that sparkles…she lights up a room with her positive energy, creativity and enthusiasm.  Yesterday at our Quarterly Kick-Off  Meeting she was honored as Support Employee of the Year.  A great honor as it is an award won through the vote of her colleagues.  We invite the winners family as well so they can see their loved one win this award.  It was an extremely emotional and deeply heartfelt experience for ALL.

Let's get onto the card…

Where did my mojo come from?

I wanted a clean design yet I wanted it to be fun to represent the recipient.  This card is clean yet it showcases several design details.

  • Very Vanilla card stock is my base and then I mounted a piece of Birthday Basics DSP onto Raspberry Ripple card stock.
  • I added an embossed edge to the DSP with the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder.
  • Then I stamped the birthday cake from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set and punched it out with a circle punch and framed with a new Starburst Framelit.
  • Before adhering my focal point to the card with Stampin Dimensionals I colored in the flame of the candle using my Summer Starfruit Stampin' Write Marker and added sparkle to the flame with Dazzling Details.  I also added a piece of Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon folded over to create a "winner's ribbon" look.  [I did not know she was an Employee of the Year winner when I created the card.]

I hope you enjoyed today's card and I got your mojo going to create today. Here are links to the products I used for today's card and available through Stampinmojo's Online store.
