Celebrate – New Beginnings

I hope you had a great weekend.  On Saturday, we loaded our car to the gills and took our oldest son back to school to begin his Sophomore year.  Having the whole family together for a road trip – Priceless! Next, our younger son starts his senior year in high school tomorrow.  So we are on the brink of new beginnings.

A dear colleague at work became a grandmother last week and I created this card to accompany a gift I got her to celebrate her new beginning.

I just received my recent Stampin' Up! order with the new circle thinlits and could not wait to get them out to create this card.  I don't have baby stamps so I used this cute lizard from the Tag It stamp set to celebrate the arrival of this new life.  Then I added a few hearts from Hearts a Flutter stamp set to convey the love that must be bursting from my colleague's heart.

When you create the standard thinlit card you need a piece of card stock 5 1/2" by 6".  I saw another demonstrator extend the card stock to 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" leaving the extra paper outside of the thinlit. See below:

This allowed me to create a  standard card opening with space to write and express my congratulations. Here is the inside:

I am not sure if the card is too busy or not.  What do you think?

A Little Lovely Romance

08-17-2013

Today's card was about creating my own background by using one stamp from the Lovely Romance Stamp set. Using my Stamp-a-ma-jig I created this great design.  To make sure the design did not get too overwhelming I stamped off every other stamp to alternate the intensity of the Old Olive ink on the Very Vanilla card stock.  If you look closely you can see the variation in the color.

Here is a photo of the Lovely Romance Stamp Set, all the stamps are beautiful:

Lovely romance

Once the background was complete I wanted to add a splash of color. Using the color palette from the Etcetera DSP as my guide, I added Calypso Coral ribbon (retired) and then stamped the sentiment with Brown Sugar ink on a piece of Etcetera DSP. I also used Etcetera DSP to line the envelope.

I think the result is unique yet classic.  I would love to hear what you think?

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge

08-15-2013

I really love how this turned out.  A clean design with an air of spooky.  Here is the Challenge Sketch used to inspire my card:

I am beginning to see the signs of Fall approaching as the days begin to get shorter and the shadows cast by the sun during the day are changing.  I love the Fall and am enjoying using supplies from the Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog to further get into the changing seasons.

I used the new Best of Halloween one of the Stampin' Up 25th Anniversary stamp sets for the greeting as well as the tree.  I used Witches Brew DSP as well as Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black card stock.  The finishing touch is an Antique Brad on the small circle.  If you are interested in purchasing these items you can click on the photos below and shop the Stampin Mojo online store open 24/7!
