Birthday Cake!

05-10-2014d

This card evolved as I my Mojo got going…

I started with the Birthday Cake stamp (I am so sad it is retiring).  I knew I wanted to use Strawberry Slush as the chevron portion.  I love Wild Wasabi with it which led me to my second color choice.  Once the cake was inked with my Stampin’ Write Makers and stamped I needed to figure out what to do in the upper right corner.

I chose the oval Happy Birthday sentiment from the Best of Birthdays stamp set (retired) but it was lackluster against with the bling decked out birthday cake. So I grabbed some Silver Baker’s Twine and my Bitty Banner punch (from Sale-a-bration) and created this fun banner.  Next I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment with Versamark on Strawberry Slush card stock and heat embossed with Silver Emboss powder.  A little snipping and the birthday banner was added to the original sentiment.  NOW the pieces go together, don’t you agree?

Here’s the inside of the card…the present is also from Best of Birthdays (retired) and the sentiment is non-SU but I love the message.  (Sorry for the weird color from the photo I retook it a couple of times but it still came out yellowish)

Here is one last look at the card, I am really pleased in how it turned out.  It is for a special colleague in my office whose birthday is TODAY and I know she will like it.

This week is the PALS Blog hop, always a special event.  We have moved it to Wednesday so don’t miss out as it will surely be another fun collection of creativity as only the Pals can provide.

Cheers,

Michelle
