Today I am launching a new series called Memory Making Monday’s. I began my love for paper-crafting through scrapbooking. As I have moved into card making my memory keeping as taken a back burner and I want to get back into making it a priority. SO, I thought I might inspire you to join me in capturing some of those special moments in your life.
We live in a world where many of us have more “stuff” than we really need. So when gift giving events occur I think about what experience can I give someone. This past Christmas I bought my husband an experience gift – a trip to Chicago to see a Indie group called Lake Street Dive. They are fabulous musicians that do not want to be pegged into a music genre. They are a blend of jazz, blues, and rock.
I couldn’t wait to capture this fabulous weekend we had together. Prior to the explosion of Project Life or pocket style memory keeping I always started with a 12″ x 12″ page and designed the page based on the photos I was working with. I decided I really wanted to free form create the pages from this weekend. When capturing a memory I want to capture more than one photo. It allows me to share the experience through my photos.
Here I started with a piece of retired Botanical Gardens DSP, It is Black and Basic Grey so I used Black and Gold elements within my page. The die cut is from the new thinlit set called Sunshine Wishes. ♥
My page includes photos that I snipped from the website of the adorable restaurant we found for lunch right after we arrived and the review I posted on Trip Advisor. I use a tool called SnagIt which is fantastic to capture these items.
I created two more pages from the weekend using the same 12″ x 12″ Botanical Gardens DSP. This keeps the “event” flowing together by having an underlying theme.
I hope I have inspired you to capture a memory this week.
