My recent Stampin’ Up! order contained the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks so I had to get out my Shimmery White Embossing Paste and create. I also pulled out an older stamp set – Floral Essence. I was in a creative mood so I stamped onto Bristol smooth watercolor paper to take on some watercoloring.
Watercoloring is a challenge for me. It is an imperfect process where you must let go and let the color flow; this is hard when your natural tendency is alignment, symmetry, and okay I will say it perfectionism. It also takes patience as you need to let each layer dry to achieve the layers of color.
To watercolor the flowers I wet each petal and then added a bit of color using Karin Markers then worked it out to the petal tips. To add depth I would touch my wet paintbrush to the marker tip and then add color. I love the vivid color that I was able to achieve. I have a LONG way to go but I am happy with this outing.
Each flower was easily cut out using my paper snips and then mounted onto the completely dried embossed panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love how the dried paste shimmers in the light which you can’t capture in a photo.
The embossed panel was layered onto a piece of Bumblebee card stock that was dry embossed using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. That was mounted onto Blackberry Bliss card stock. I love this color combination.
The sentiment was created using Spellbinders Hot Foil system and then cropped using Rectangle Stitched dies.
Then I saw the Just Add Ink Challenge #515 – Mixed Media and feel my card is perfect for this challenge.
I hope you are having a great day and thanks for stopping by!
