January Pals Blog Hop – Celebrate the Everyday!

January Blog hop badge

Welcome to our first blog hop of 2014. This month we are excited to show you the new products available in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog as well as a preview of the free products you can earn through Sale-a-bration at the end of January.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Lisa Ann Bernard at Queen B Creations on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

The Occasions Catalog is chocked filled with great products. There are two design suites I love from this catty; Watercolor Wonder and Retro Fresh. I decided to use Retro Fresh today.

I have seen this Criss-Cross card design and never tried it.  I decided this DSP was perfect to give it a try and I am love the result. Here are the steps:

  • Start with a standard 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" card base in So Saffron.
  • Open the card and line up one half of the card from the fold to the opposite point (along the 5 1/5" side) and then cut on that diagonal.
  • The triangle piece you cut off should be flipped over and it becomes the other side of your criss cross.
  • Now cut your Retro Fresh DSP 5 1/4" by 4" and then cut it on the diagonal from point to point along the 5 1/4" side. And adhere the two DSP triangles to the card base triangles.
  • Use Sticky Strip to adhere the sides and base of the triangles. Now you have a pocket for your postcard insert.
  • Then create the insert piece using So Saffron and Very Vanilla card stock. (the measurements will depend on how close to the edge you placed your sticky strip, a little trimming may be in order)
  • Using the Retro Fresh Washi Tape wrap it over a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and then punch with the FREE smaller banner punch available through Sale-a-bration which begins January 28th!
  • Adhere the banner tab with sticky strip.
  • The sentiment is from the Peachy Keen Stamp set and was stamped with Tangerine Tango Ink.
  • The finishing touches are Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbon and a Naturals Designer Button with Linen Thread.
  • Of course line your envelope with Retro Fresh DSP as well using the Envelope Liner Framelits.

I am very happy with this card and can't wait to send it to a very dear friend.
