FABULOUS Fall colors – PPA #174

The Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge this week is featuring some of my FAVORITE colors.

These colors are throughout my home and give it a sense of warmth.   I wanted to create something different and special.  Sure the colors say Fall and Thanksgiving,  yet I  wanted to get outside that conventional wisdom.

The Postage Due stamp set is a vintage look and Baked Brown Sugar is a perfect color to use for a vintage look.  So I decided to make that stamp my focal point. The colors Pear Pizazz and Pumpkin Pie keep the card looking contemporary.

Gorgeous Grunge Birthday Wishes

Several weeks ago the Pals Paper Arts had a color challenge with the colors Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry, and Early Espresso.

The first card I created was not what I wanted to post for the challenge sooo I went back to work and produced another card which you saw a few weeks ago, you can see it again here.

The original card I created sat on the corner of my craft table and it has grown on me.  Have you ever made a card that at first you were not pleased with and then later you looked at it again and liked it?

So does it look like I spilled this morning's coffee grounds on it or does the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set add depth to the card?  I would love to hear YOUR thoughts!

The flower comes from the Best of Flowers Stamp Set part of Stampin' Up!'s 25th Anniversary monthly stamp set.  Here are all the flowers in the set (they're all great):

The sentiment was embossed with White Embossing powder and the image is from the Four You Stamp Set. The finishing touch is a knot tied with the 3/4" Chevron Ribbon in Crushed Curry.

I absolutely love this camel, need a smile watch it now.   Happy Hump Day!

You’re Amazing!

We never understand the impact our words are on another person.  One day I went through my local Starbucks drive through on the way to work.  When I was handed my venti nonfat latte, hand written on the cup was "You're Amazing!".  I had been working a lot, was worn down and felt unappreciated. (You've been there right?)  Those words from a complete stranger written on my cup absolutely touched me, shifted my mood and my day.  This happened over a year ago and I still vividly recall the experience.  I kept the cup for quite some time.

Someone who I think the world of is having a birthday next month.  I created her birthday card to let her know I think she is amazing.  She is a positive influence in others lives.  She is strong, smart, has a great sense of humor and is so giving of herself.  

Using the Pals Paper Arts sketch No 173 as my inspiration I created this card:

My card base is 5 x 5 in Crumb Cake card stock.  The next layer is Cherry Cobbler which I adhered to the base with stampin dimensionals to create the dimension I wanted. The sentiment is from the Lovely Romance stamp set, which is one of my favorite stamp sets in the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. I cut out the sentiment using the Chalk Talk Framelits. Then I cut out two more shapes from the crumb cake card stock and layered them to on the back to frame the sentiment.  The flags are 3/4" pieces of crumb cake and whisper white card stock.  I placed the cherry cobbler polka dot washi tape from the Season of Style Designer Washi Tape collection on the center of the whisper white piece before I flagged the end.  And the final touch was the 7/16" Natural Trim Ribbon.

Freshly Made Sketch #105 Entry

I loved this week's Freshly Made Sketch  and couldn't wait to get time to give it a try.  Here is the sketch:

Today I finally had time to get my Stampin Mojo going and here is what I came up with for this design sketch challenge.  I am very pleased with the clean and simple look of this card.  I think it looks like a winter wonderland.

The Whisper White card stock base is 5 x 5.  Then Silver Glimmer paper adds the sparkle of lights on freshly fallen snow.  The squares are Soft Sky card stock and the Christmas Tree from the Snow Swirled Stamp Set [Retired] provides the Centerpiece of my card.  The Soft Sky seam binding ribbon and candy dot are the finishing touches.
