Another Fall Color Challenge – PPA 175

It's Thursday so it must be a Pals Paper Arts Challenge!  This week is another color challenge using some less familiar colors.  Check it out…

Sure I could have used Wonderfall leaves or perhaps the Truly Grateful stamp set (one of my favorites in the holiday catalog) yet I wanted to stretch myself and do something different.  These colors are very masculine to me so I reached for my World Map stamp.

The result is a clean and simple masculine card.  Here are the details:

  • Card base – So Saffron, standard A2 card
  • Cajun Craze layer is 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Very Vanilla layer is 3 3/4" x 5" and the World Stamp is created with Always Artichoke ink and adhered to the Cajun Craze layer
  • Adhere the Cajun Craze layer with Stampin Dimensionals to the card base
  • Sentiment is from the Chalk Talk Stamp set* also created with Always Artichoke ink  and punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch.  Then adhere to Chalk Talk framelit* cutout from Regals Designer Series Paper in Always Artichoke.  Attach the frame to the map with Stampin' Dimensionals for more visual interest
  • Finishing touch – Cajun Craze candy dots from the Regals Candy Dots

Fabulous You

10-07-2013Isn't that shoe just fantastic?  I just love the Fabulous You stamp set. I used black embossing powder to create texture and depth for the image.

The ribbon and rhinestone bling are not Stampin' Up! yet match Island Indigo very well as I used Island Indigo ink for the sentiment from the Gifts of Kindness stamp set.  The envelope is lined with Island Indigo from the Regals collection Designer Series Paper Stack.

While this card did not take a lot of time, I think it looks smashing.  The quality materials from Stampin' Up! make creating fun and and easy.

Freshly Made Sketch – Halloween Style

This week's Freshly Made Sketch #106 is a simple design yet is was difficult to come up with a unique card since I am late in submitting to the challenge. Here is this week's sketch:

FMS106I used a Retired stamp from Stampin' Up! yet it is one of my favorites for Halloween.  It is called Frightening Feline for all you cat lovers out there.  The image begs to be perched on a fence as the sun sets.  Let's get to the card…

Here are the details:

  • Card base – Cajun Craze card stock 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
  • Photo paper – 4" x 4"
  • Stamp the Frightening Feline with Stazon Jet Black ink 
  • Punch a 2 1/2" circle from a large Post-It-Note and masked the stamped feline image
  • Sponge from the circle out to the edges Daffodil Delight, then Tangerine Tango and finally Cajun Craze ink to create the sunset look
  • Remove the mask and lightly sponge So Saffron over the stamped image
  • Cut a 1" wide piece of black paper from the Witches brew DSP and using the Designer Rosette Bigs XL cut out the fence
  • Sponging the folds with white craft ink gives the "fence" a weathered look

I think this is a fun card.  I hope you enjoyed learning how to create the sunset look with a little bit of light sponging.
