Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #226

It is Thursday and time for a Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.  The colors this week are warm and earthy.

PPA226

And here is my card…

Gleeson PPA 226

The colors are dark so I decided that more white space or in this case Very Vanilla space was needed.  The stamp from the Making Spirits Bright stamp set is the star of the card.  I just adore all the images in this set.

I used the new Crumb Cake Note Card and Envelope set as the base of the card.  Then I added a layer of Soft Suede.  The Very Vanilla base has a piece of Color me Autumn Designer Washi Tape and a piece of Mossy Meadow 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.  A small gold button with Linen Thread finishes the card.

Clean and simple.

I do hope you will play along with the Pals this week.  Be sure to check out what the other design team members created here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Fabulous Work of Art

Fabulous 2

When the annual catalog first launched the Work of Art stamp set was seeing a lot of action.  I wanted to bring this back out to remind you of the great features of this Fabulous stamp set.

I feel like an artist when I use this stamp set.  The colors used are Pool Party and Island Indigo – LOVE them together!

A couple of punched butterflies in Pool Party and Vellum with a little bling take the card from colorful to fantastic (in my humble opinion).

Fabulous inside

And here is the inside of the card.  I know another birthday card…

Darling Birthday Wishes

IMG_5294

Here is a clean and easy card for Simple Saturday.  I took a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and stamped the floral images from the Hello Darling stamp set randomly on the card stock using Crushed Curry and Black Memento ink.  I used the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities to add the centers to the Black images.  It may be difficult to see that I added Basic Jewel Rhinestones to a few of the Crushed Curry flowers as well.

The stamped card stock was then mounted on Basic Black card stock.  Black anchors everything so beautifully.  This was adhered to the Very Vanilla base with Tombow glue so I could jiggle it around and make sure it fit snug to the three edges.

Then I stamped the sentiment.  I used a retired set called Curly Cute.  This was one of my  first stamp sets and an all time favorite.  I adore the font.

Birthday wishes

In this photo you can see I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add two underscores to my sentiment.  This adds dimension and texture to my card.

I hope you have a wonderful Saturday and you have been inspired to create today.

Happy Halloween!

Each year at my office we dress up to celebrate Halloween and we award prizes for best costume, scariest, funniest, etc.  Last year we decided to add some team building and a decorating element to the day.  It was crazy competitive as four separate sections/teams decorated to win the prize (lunch for the group) as well as bragging rights for the year.

Who picks the winner?  We have a church next to our office that has a pre-school and for the last 15 years they have brought these pre-schoolers over to trick or treat in our offices.  The kids pick the winner.  Last year one group did Candyland and they were the winners, beating out Snow White and the 7 dwarfs and The Wizard of Oz.

This year the competition was fierce and the results were nothing short of amazing.  This year we had three separate areas.  One group did Frozen, another Lego – The Movie, and the final the Disney Princess'.  Take a look at some of these pictures.

While not much work got done yesterday, it was worth all the smiles and tremendeous enthusiasm felt throughout the office.  So proud of all these associates.  Amazing creativity!

So who won?  Frozen was selected by the kids but the adults picked Lego – The Movie so we had two winners!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.
