Amazing Confetti Birthday

Amazing Confetti Birthday

A bright cheery and sweet birthday card.  The DSP is from the Confetti Celebration DSP collection and it provided the Stampin Mojo I needed for this card.

While some people sketch out their designs before they start my designs often evolve.  For example, after I stamped the banner flag for the upper left corner I thought I would emboss on the banner.  It did not turn out they way I wanted so I stamped the same stamp again on Whisper White and cut out the elements gluing them on top of the embossed image.  I liked the result much better.

All the stamped images are from the Amazing Birthday stamp set.

You can see I used the same DSP to line my envelope which is a snap with the Envelope Liner Framelits.

I know I have been posting a lot of birthday cards lately.  I hope the designs inspire you whether you have birthday cards to create or not.

I hope you are having a great week!

Four Feathers Birthday

I am definitely in a time of transition.  So much excitement for our two sons, as one returns to his familiar university campus and the other begins his journey on a campus in a whole new climate.  And while I have always worked and thought this would make our sons leaving for school easier for me, I find myself very reflective as I consider this new chapter in our lives.  So it was wonderful to get into my craft room this morning after almost two weeks and lose myself in creating something for you.

  Four Feathers Birthday

This card was inspired by Michele Reynolds over at Inspiration Ink.  She did her card in Cherry Cobbler and I really wanted to see it in Fall colors.  So I used Cajun Craze card stock as my base and my Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities to color the feather print from the Back to Black DSP collection.  I am really pleased with the result.

While I am still experimenting with the Blendabilities markers I must tell you that each time I use them I love them more.  They are so versatile and easy to use.

I know many of you like to know the dimensions used on my cards.  Here you go:

Standard A2 Base  5 1/2 x 4 1/4

Back to Black DSP  1 1/4, then I added the Cajun Craze scallop border

Black card stock (base of focal point) 5 1/8 x 4

Cajun Craze on top of that is 5 x 3 7/8

Black Base for the center square 3" square

Whisper White is then 1/8" smaller

The Four Feathers were stamped on crepe filter paper cut out with the coordinating framelits and adhered at the base only with glue dots.  This gives the feathers a light airy look.

Four Feathers inside view

This is the inside of the card.  You can see in the background I decorated the flap of the envelope by stamping one of the feathers a few times.  I liked the result.

Thanks for stopping by.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #220

Gleeson PPA 220
When I saw this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge the first thing that came to my mind was a large Harvest Moon.

PPA220

So I followed my vision to create a very different card from my normal style.  Sometimes it is fun to simply experiment and try something new.

I took a piece of standard white photo paper and using a piece of Stamping Sponge (I cut them into quarters for easy handling) I lightly dabbed it onto my Mossy Meadow ink pad.  Then I swiped it onto the lower edge of the photo paper.  I used circular motion when adding the Mossy Meadow and I think it gave the feeling of the wind blowing the grass

For the sky I cropped a 2 1/2" circle from a post-it note and placed that on the photo paper.  Then I took another piece of Stamping Sponge and swiped Daffodil Delight across the top section to create the setting sun.  After completing the Daffodil Delight I then used Tangelo Twist and Cajun Craze to add more depth to the sunset.  Once I thought I was done with the sunset I Lifted the post-it note off the photo paper.  Then I lightly swiped Daffodil Delight over the large sun.

The new Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set provided the house, tree, bats and the sentiment for the card.  The house was colored using Stampin' Up Blendabilities Markers.  I used Crystal Effects over the windows for added texture, you can see it a little in the photo below.  The photo paper was mounted on a standard A2 Basic Black card base.

This card was fun to create and for a few minutes I felt like an artist with her canvas and paints.

I can't wait to see what you do with this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge!

Cheers,

Michelle

Make a Wish

Make a Wish upright

My nephew who is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin – Madison is celebrating his 19th birthday.  The first weekend he was there he text-ed home "I love this place".  So as a new UW Badger I thought it was fitting to create his birthday card in UW colors.

The base of the card is Real Red.  The top layer is embossed with the new Lucky Stars Textured Embossing Folder.  The banner is stamped with a stamp from Perfect Pennants stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then again in Real Red where I snipped out just the section I wanted and then added a Stampin' Dimensional so it literally pops off the banner.

Although this is a masculine card I felt the tiny bit of glimmer paper gave the card a party feel.  The stars were cut in Basic Gray using the smallest Star Collection Framelit.  Super simple and a fun result.

Make a wish inside

The inside sentiment came from a new stamp set in the Annual Catalog called Occasions 4 You.  This is a great beginner stamp set with four sentiments you always need handy.
