All Abloom Birthday

The Paper Players

I have several birthday cards to make for this month and decided to use The Paper Players Challenge this week as my inspiration.  This week Sandy Mathis has challenged us to use buttons on our projects. I decided to use a stamp set that has not gotten a lot of use – Label Love.  One of the stamps has a blank circle in the middle perfect for my buttons.

The DSP used as the background is from the All Abloom DSP Paper Stack.  Another great paper stack for quick and easy use for card creation.  I loved these colors and simply layer card stock to support to feature a couple of the colors.

The Daffodil Delight stamped labels with the buttons are glued directly onto the DSP while the Happy Birthday label is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  This brings all three labels to the overall same height across the card.

As I was writing this blog post I had wished I used Mossy Meadow as the layer under the DSP rather than Pistachio Pudding card stock.  So I stopped my writing and created another card.  So here is the same design but switching out one layer of card stock and switching the Happy Birthday Label ink color.

Paper Players card #2

It is amazing how changing one simple layer can alter the card.  The top card seems lighter  while the second card is richer.  Which one do you like better?

Thanks for stopping by!  Tomorrow is the Pals Paper Arts Challenge so don't forget to stop back.

You’re A Star!

Fab Friday entry

I took advantage of the recent DSP promotion and ordered the Flowerpot DSP. This was not one of those had to have DSP packs however with the promotion I decided to give it a whirl and I am thrilled I did.  While the floral designs might not be my first choice I love the small designs on the other side of many of the papers.  This card was created around one of the Flowerpot DSP papers.  The colors are Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy and I love the small polka dots.

The card was created for the latest Fab Friday Sketch Challenge.  Here is the sketch:

FabFri47

I wanted to go outside the box and chose another shape for my card.  The colors led me to use Stars as my theme and the sentiment from Pictogram Punches was the perfect choice.  The sentiment was embossed in Iridescent Ice to give the sentiment some glimmer.

Using fellow pal Brian King's patented squint methodology for balance on my card (now I owe him a nickel) I decided to add the three Candy Dots. If you are not familiar with this technique and you want to put a smile on your face then watch Brian's video by clicking here.  The problem was I did not have any more Night of Navy Candy Dots.  Have no fear!  I had white candy dots and simply colored them with my new Night of Navy Blendablities pen.

I love how this card turned out.  I am always looking for masculine cards and I believe this fits the bill even with the bit of glimmer in the sentiment.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sunflowers for Freshly Made Sketches

FMS sunflower flat

The sketch for Freshly Made Sketches drew me in this week.  The sketch is by Jen Timko

FMS147

I did not stray from the sketch as the idea of a button drew me to the sketch in the first place.  I purchased several of the border stamp sets from the annual catalog and thought they might be fun to use with this sketch.

The base of the card is Daffodil Delight. The stamp set is Bordering Blooms and I used a deeper yellow and deeper orange ink with each panel.  The first combination is Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral, followed by Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango, and finally Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist.  Bordering Blooms is a Photopolymer Stamp Set making lining up the stamps Easy Peasy.

The button is from the Brights Collection.  And the Gold Baker's Twine adds a little dazzle.  Clean and simple.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  We are deep into our dog days of summer in Florida.  August and September are the toughest with the humidity.  Yet I love the fact that the sun is shinning everyday.   As they say, Life doesn't need to be Perfect to be Wonderful.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Paper Pumpkin Promotion

A few months ago Stampin' Up! had a special promotion to sign up for Paper Pumpkin for half price the first month to encourage stampers/crafters to give it a try.  This was enough to persuade me to give it a try.  I have now received three Paper Pumkin Kits and I am loving it.

This month's Paper Pumpkin included six wonderful BlackBerry Bliss and White striped boxes, an entire spool of white satin ribbon, stamps, six note cards and evelopes and embellishments.  WOW all that for $19.95!  Check out what I did with my Paper Pumpkin this month.

The "Wish" in this card came from the Make a Wish stamp set (retired).  The Baker's Twine was part of last month's kit.

Paper Pumkin 2

The "WISH" in this card came from letters included in this month's kit.  The "Make A Big" is one of the stamps in the kit.

The "You Were Here" is also a stamp included in the kit.  The Lost Lagoon ribbon I used here was from the annual catalog.

And this card displays another stamp, "On A Star", included in the kit.  The kit included 8 photopolymer sentiment stamps and two embellishment stamps.
