Special Thanks for Paper Players Sketch #206

Special thank you

I wanted to participate in The Paper Players Sketch Challenge this week.  Here is the sketch:

Paper Players sketch 206

I wanted to use the Back to Black DSP for my card.  As I write this I realize the print in the DSP I chose mimicks the one in the sketch.  Hmmm, that was not planned.  Then I choice Cherry Cobbler card stock as my base.  A pop of color with black and white is always striking – isn't it?

I went to an old favorite stamp and framelit set called Chalk Talk for the shape to hold my sentiment.  The design is embossed in Cherry Cobbler.  The sentiment is from A Happy Hooray Stamp Set and embossed in Black.

The banners are one inch each and the flagged ends were created using the Hexagon Punch.

Today is the LAST day for the buy 3 DSP and get one FREE!.  Click here to place your order now!

Have a great day!

Endless Birthday Wishes for PPA 213

PPA 213 sketch challenge entry

Let's take a quick look at the PPA sketch challenge that inspired the design for this card.

PPA213 sketch

This card is so bright and cheerie with Starberry Slush as the base of the card.  The three squares layer Bermuda Bay and Confetti Celebration DSP.  The "birthday cake" is from the Photopolymer Stamp Set Endless Birthday Wishes, a must have stamp set.

I colored the cake with Daffolidl Delight and Smoky Slate Blendabilities.  I am still learning how to use these markers for shading and depth.  I love the coverage you get and their ease of use though.

The Strawberry Slush base was embossed using the Decorateive Dots Textured Impressions folder.  These folders are inexpensive and easily create such great texture to your card.

The inside showcases more stamps in the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set along with the fun candles from Big News.

Happy 50th Vickie!

Today is my Sister-in Law Vickie's 50th Birthday.  The rest of us have all turned 50 already and know  it is only a number – besides it is the new 40 right?  Vickie loves to celebrate her birthday and last night she celebrated with a party of her gal pals that my brother threw for her.  I am sure they had a blast.

The card I made for her is outside my normal style.  I wanted something bold and whimsical.  Let's check it out.

Happy 50th

I do hope Vickie gets a kick out of it.

There was a lot of embossing on this card.  The flags, the candles, the sentiment and the waves on the top and bottom of the card.  Yes I fussy cut those candles and I really don't like to fussy cut.

The inside of the card was decorated as well however I did not snap a picture before I sent it off.  I did not want it to be late.

Most importantly I am deeply grateful to my brother for giving me such a great sister (in-law).  I am blessed to have her in my life and thrilled she has joined the ranks of 50 something like the rest of us.

So a BIG Happy Birthday to You Vickie.  I hope your day is filled with all your favorite things.

Polka Dot Pieces for Fab Friday

I got home last night from my business trip and could not wait to get into my craft room to relax and create.  Here is a card I created for the Fab Friday Challenge #46.

Polka Dot pieces

And here is the challenge badge:

Fab Fri46

The colors said "flowers" to me and I wanted to use a new stamp set that has not yet seen a lot of ink.  So out came the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set.  I cut one sprig of leaves and the other is stamped directly on the background card stock.  I realize after fussy cutting the first sprig I really should get the Bird Builder Punch, one of the very few I don't own.

The ribbon is the new 1/8" Cotton Ribbon in Daffodil Delight.

Polka dot with envie

You can see I even decorated the envelope with these cute flowers.  I may just add a third flower in Daffodil Delight before I give this card.  Everything looks better in three's.

The sentiment provides balance to the card filling up the white space at the top.

Yesterday as I was preparing for my trip back to Naples, I stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  As I enjoyed my first cup of coffee I perused Pinterest.  When the server came up she asked if I was a crafter and I enthusiastically said YES.  She shared that she was too and that she has been making wedding invitations and even shared a couple of her card designs with me.  I love how crafting bonds people together almost instantly. So Valarie P, I hope you followed up on my blog and see this shout out to you!  Thank you for starting my day with a smile.
