Christmas Bliss in July

Stampin' Up's annual convention kicked off yesterday and I am saddened to not be in attendance.  I am living vicariously through my fellow demonstrators sharing all the news and fun festivities.  I saw photos of convention attendees paging through their copies of the upcoming Holiday Catalog that will be released in August.

In the meantime to whet our appetite Stampin Up released a Photopolymer Holiday stamp set called Christmas Bliss.  I love the fonts on this set.

Christmas Bliss

I ordered it immediately and could not wait to start playing.  I have a couple of cards to share with you.

07-18-2014

The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler and the Seasons of Style DSP (Retired) from last holiday season  adds the flair.  The green accents and ink are the new green – Mossy Meadow.  The green "pearls" in the upper right corner are Basic Pearl Jewels colored with Old Olive Dark Blendable pen.  I was tickled with how they turned out; the perfect finishing touch.

  Z-fold card

I used Old Olive as the base for this card and created a Z fold for visual interest. [This is simply a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card and then the top flap is folded back to create the Z.] Using the Square Framelits (#4 and #5 from the center) I created the frame and then embossed the sentiment in Gold Emboss powder on a piece of Old Olive card stock.  The edges of the Stampin' Dimensionals gave the frame the lift over the Old Olive layer.

The inside of the card has a coordinating "diamond" for the inside sentiment.  The top diamond lays directly over the bottom diamond so you cannot see it exists until you lift the top diamond.

And here is the inside with the sentiment.

I know some of you may be shaking your heads saying NO Christmas in July.  I get it, life is speeding by fast enough.  I just really wanted to show off the new stamp set.  If you are like me and want to get your hands on it right away too, click here and snatch one up for yourself.  Last year the Endless Wishes Photopolymer set was sold out fast don't miss out.

I can't wait to see the new holiday catalog and all the new goodies. I have to believe there will be at least one star stamp set to coordinate with the Star Framelits in the annual catalog.  What do you think we will see?

I hope you had fun with this post.  I enjoyed bringing these cards to you.

Amazing Birthday for PPA #212

PPA 212 Gleeson

Happy Thursday! I hope your week has been Ridiculously Amazing. The stamp set I am featuring this week for the Pals Paper Arts  sketch challenge includes a stamp that says; Make Today Ridiculously Amazing…simply fun.

PPA212

I struggled with the sketch and decided to stay fairly true to the design with the circles.  The base of the card is made from Crisp Cantaloupe and then I layered Whisper White and DSP from Gold Soiree DSP Collection.  This is such a fun pattern from the collection.

The "band" across the entire card was created with the new 5/8" Gold Satin Ribbon.  I just recently ordered the Gold Satin Ribbon after hearing so many other demonstrators talk or blog about how much they love it.  There was no exaggeration about this ribbon, it is simply beautiful. The photo does not capture the ribbon nor the gold polka dots in the DSP.

The circles are stamps from the Amazing Birthday stamp set.  I hung the "It's for You" stamp from the ribbon like a tag then proceeded with the birthday cake and surprise stamps.  So in MY crazy head the card reads – Its for you, birthday surprise!

It turned out to be a fun card.  I can't wait to see what the other design team members created.  What would you do with this sketch?  I do hope you will play along too!

Blooms and Scallops

07-14-2014

If you saw my post last Saturday you know how much I love this new Striped Scallop thinlit.  If you missed the post you can check it out here.

This is another quick card.  It starts with the Stampin Up Note card and envelope set.  I love the heavy weight of these note cards.  Then I cropped the scallop in Mossy Meadow which is striking against the crisp white card stock.

The Bloom for you Flowers are heat embossed in Tangerine Tango (Retired) and Crushed Curry.  You can see the texture of the embossing in this photo.  You can easily substitue Calypso Coral for Tangerine Tango.

And the sentiment is from the Flower Patch stamp set and cropped with one of the framelits from the Project Life cards and labels.

I hope your week is going well.  Don't forget to stop back on Thursday for a Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge!

Hip Hip Hooray for FMS #144

I am not getting a lot of time in my craft room right now as I prepare for a 4 Hour presentation as a Key Note speaker at a conference in less than 2 weeks.  In the meantime here is a quick card I created for this week's Freshly Made Sketch.

FMS 7-13-2014

With two sons I am always striving to create masculine cards to have in my stash.  Our oldest is taking two (college course) classes this summer.  Due to the accelerated pace of the summer classes it is a lot of work.  He is rockin' the classes and has two tests this week.  I am anticipating wanting a card to help him celebrate and acknowledge the hard work to reach his goals.

Here is the badge for the sketch:

There is still time to play along wtih FMS yourself.  Are you inspired to give it a try?
