Elegant Striped Scallop

07-12-2014

Happy Saturday!

I could not wait to share this card with you, as I think it is so striking.  The card base is Basic Black.  Then I layered a piece of Very Vanilla a 1/4" smaller than the base.  Then using the new Striped Scallop thinlit I cut out the scallops in Basic Black card stock as well.  I adhered the scallops with the 2 way glue pen.  You need to work fast as the adhesive dries quickly.

TIP:  I placed a piece of wax paper between the thinlit and the cardstock.  This made separating the scallops from the thinlit easier.

Then I tied a piece of Hello Honey 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon around the top of the card.  The greeting is from the Hey You Stamp Set created to coordinate with the Greeting You Simply Created Card Kit.  (Page 103 in the Annual Catalog).  My Circle Collection Framelits assisted me in cutting the perfect circles.

Imagine this card with Cherry Cobbler ribbon for the holidays!

I really had no intention of getting this thinlit. I thought I would use it once and then never again.  Then I saw a project with it and knew it had to be part of my Stampin' collection.  Now that I have used it I can see the versatility of this thinlit.

Thanks for stopping by.  May your day be Perfect!

Pals Paper Arts – 211

PPA 211 standard view

This week's Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge says SUMMER.  There is nothing like crisp White, Navy and Yellow.  Here is the PPA badge:

PPA211

I had not yet used my Star Framelits or the Be the Star stamp set and this color combination was perfect for it.

The Night of Navy stars are embossed in White Emboss powder.  I always use the Embossing Buddy when I heat emboss.  You swipe the Embossing Buddy across your paper before you stamp with the Versamark.  The Embossing Buddy leaves a fine layer of powder to ensure the emboss powder or glitter only sticks to the Versamark image.  It gives you a clean embossed image everytime.

The Daffodil Delight Star was stamped with Daffodil Delight ink for a tone on tone look.  And the new 1/4" Cotton Ribbon in Daffodil Delight was perfect under the sentiment that was punched out with the 1" square punch.

I hope you will play along with the Pals this week and enjoy working with these wonderful colors.

July Pals Blog Hop – The New Hue Review

July Blog Hop badge

Welcome to the July Pals Blog Hop. This month we are featuring a New Hues Review. Let the new Stampin' Up! In Colors for 2014-16 inspire you – Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, and Tangelo Twist.  We hope you find great inspiration from our creations.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Peggy Noe at Pretty Paper cards number 21 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

In my opinion, this year's annual catty is over the top.  There was very little I did not want to add to my Stampin' Up! collection.  And that certainly includes the NEW 2014-2016 In-Colors.  I was so excited when I learned we would hold an entire Blog Hop dedicated to these colors.

My first item is a pocket journal.  I thought this was a wonderful addition to the Stampin' Up! gift packages.  You can find the journals on page 200 of the catalog.

Journal book

The journal measures 31/2" x 5 1/2" and can easily slip into a card as a little something to the recipient.  I love paper and I love journals so this was a must on my first order.  Isn't this cute?  The "Don't Forget" and the arrow are from the What's Up? stamp set.  The sentiment is from the Oh My Goodies stamp set and already a "go to" stamp set for me.  The Don't Forget works as a reminder for to-do lists to keep track of and also a reminder to Live Well, Laugh Hard and Love Big.  Life has a way of pulling me off center at times and this journal in my purse will be a great reminder!

Card

I am showing off the unique accessory available for the new In-Colors on this card (as well as on the journal) – it is the Printed Clothes Pin!  I was not quite sure how I would use them and came up with the idea of hanging my sentiment from it.  It looks like it is clipped to the vine doesn't it? Simply fun.

Close up

My projects used Tangelo Twist, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey from the new collection.  I hope this got YOUR StampinMojo going.

The next stop is September Gray at Septembergray.com number 23 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.

Lots of Thanks!

You have heard me express my gratitude for being part of the Stampin' Up! organization.  Even more fun is being a part of the Stampin' Pretty Pals and InkBig.  I believe I have the best upline team in all of Stampin' Up! Mary Fish and her upline Lisa Pretto do an amazing job of inspiring us and creating a fun, positive and cohesive group with team members all over the country.

As team members we display our creativity and encourage each other.  Mary and Lisa hold fun contests which entice us to participate.  Last week I learned that Lisa Pretto selected me to receive a box of current Stampin' Up! goodies as a prize for participating.

Of course I needed to create a special thank you card to send to Lisa.

07-07-2014

I used the new yummy In-Color Tangelo Twist as the base of my card.

The flower is from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and stamped three times on Very Vanilla card stock.  (Twice in Tangelo Twist and once in Baked Brown Sugar.)  Using the Blossom punch I punched two flowers one is a stamped image and one is simply from a piece of Tangelo Twist card stock.

The second Mixed Bunch flower was punched out with the 1 1/4" Scallop Circle.  I then punched the center of the second Tangelo Twist flower with the 3/4" circle punch.

Then sentiment is from Lots of Thanks.  And framed with a couple of quick punches of the Label Bracket punch.

The layer of DSP is from the In-Colors Designer Series Paper Stack, a must have for any stamper/crafter.

  07-07-2014 close up

Each layer of the flower sits atop the next with a Stampin Dimensional.  The finishing touch – a Basic Pearl of course.

This card is a bit of a teaser for the Pals Blog Hop on Wednesday.  July's hop will feature projects using the new In-Color Collection.  I love the new in-colors and think this will be one of the best hops ever!  Don't miss it.

So until Wednesday, happy crafting!

Michelle
