Happily Ever After

At this stage of my life I don't have the need to make many Wedding cards.  Due to the upcoming nuptials of two colleagues (not to each other) I have made a couple of cards to mark their special occasion.  Today I will show you one of the cards.

Happily Ever After
The base of the card is Whisper White card stock.  The next layer is vellum that has been embossed with the retired embossing folder Vintage Wallpaper.  You can easily substitute the Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions folder.  Then I heat embossed the retired Mr & Mrs stamp set with Silver Emboss Powder. I love the font and detail of this stamp and will not give it up just because it is retired.

I cut it out with one of the Apothecary Framelits and I added to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set.  I stamped Versamark on Vellum and then heat embossed with White Emboss Powder.  I used Glue Dots to mount the butterflies.

This is a close up of the embossed sentiment and butterflies.  Sometimes it is difficult to capture the texture and depth of these features with my camera.

The inside of the card is also embossed with Silver Emboss Powder.  I used one of the new stamp sets Big News – I think this stamp set should be on everyone's wish list.  The fonts and sentiments are perfect for many occasions.

Inside Happily Ever After

The envelope is lined with Silver Vellum Paper.

So while wedding cards are not in my usually repertoire I am pleased with the result.  White on white cards are difficult.

Let’s have a little Soiree

This has been a fast week.   It is Thursday already and you know what that means…A Pals Paper Arts Challenge!  This week's sketch challenge by the very talented Nicole Watt is fun, check it out:

PPA209 June 26I loved the sketch yet I was not sure what I wanted to do.  I purchased a few of the new DSP collections  so I went through the papers looking for the perfect inspiration and I believe I found it.

PPA 209 B

The paper is from the Gold Soiree collection and it is so fun!  I did my best to photograph the card without having my reflection in the card.

The rectangle is Gold Foil paper and the sentiment, from the #hello stamp set,  is embossed with Gold Emboss Powder.   The circle framelits were the perfect tool to cut the sentiment and create the right sized frame.

You may have noticed that I really don't create with many pastel colors.  I did not like them in the 80's and I really still don't like them.  Maybe it is because I don't look good in pastels so I simply stray away from them.  Anyway, back to the card.  I do love the pattern and color palette of this DSP though.

PPA209

I love how the pattern in the sentiment coordinates with the pattern in the DSP.

Flower Patch Birthday

6-25-2014

This card was created with the new Flower Patch Photopolymer stamp set.  There are 19 stamps in this set for an unlimited amount of creativity.  To make this stamp set even more fun, it has coordinating framelits!  Woo Hoo, we love framelits.  The flowers were CASE'd from the Stampin' Up! Catalog and so much fun to make and layer for a stunning result.

Have I mentioned how much I love the Photopolymer stamps?  Here are some of the reasons I love them:

  1. There is no assembly so you get to start stamping as soon as you open the box.  No delayed gratification with these. = )
  2. You can see through the stamp making lining up sentiments and two-step stamping a breeze.
  3. The imagine is crisp. (See my tip below)

You have heard me talk about preparing my large surface clear mount and wood stamp sets with a light sanding block.  With these clear mount stamps  I used an eraser over these large surface stamps.  My favorite kind of eraser – Magic Rub.  Once I covered the surface with the eraser I ran it across my stampin scrubber pad and then I was ready to stamp.  The images were crisp and perfect.

Isn't the ink coverage great?  I had so much fun creating this card.  The sentiment is from the So Very Happy stamp set.  And here is the inside…

I had so much fun stamping I had to keep going on the envelope.

A Scrappin’ Masculine Birthday

06-24-2014

I love Designer Series Paper (DSP) and have been working at using my paper stash and not saving it for that special occasion.  Really?  What could be more special than making a card for someone???

Since becoming a SU demonstrator I have become better at using my DSP yet I still save every scrap thinking, "I will be able to use that piece of paper".  So this card was inspired by my pile of DSP scraps.

I chose several masculine DSP designs and using my Simply Scoring Tool created texture and embossed interest around the DSP.  A little linen thread and an Antique Brad provide the finishing touch.  The sentiment is from the Photopolymer stamp set Endless Birthday Wishes.

Now for the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from the Big News Stamp set, I love this set.  The border comes from Draw the Line, a fun photopolymer set.

I love hearing from you so let me hear what you do with your scraps.

Don't forget to check out the Weekly Deals today, several framelit collections including the envelope liner framelits are onsale!!!!  Thanks for stopping by!
