Renovation Celebration Sale!

We are finally entering the final week of our home renovation project. While the project has moved swiftly we are not use to living in such disarray. We cannot wait to get order back in our lives!

As part of the renovation I had to move everything in my craft room. Next weekend we will need to move it all back. So I am having a Renovation Celebration Sale – when you buy one item you can purchase a second item at 50% off. More stamp sets have been added. Check out my Retired Product For Sale page for some of the items available. Don’t see what you are looking for? Then email me.

This is a great opportunity to find some great gifts for your stamping friends. I always include a fun stampin’ surprise when you purchase from me.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

Recovering from Irma and Painted Harvest

My last posts were made over Labor Day weekend when my husband and I were in Chicago to help our youngest son move. We flew back from that trip on Tuesday to prepare for Hurricane Irma.

Two weeks ago today we sat in our home experiencing the wrath of Irma. It was very stressful as we watched this storm shift further and further west bringing the storm to hit head on where I live in Naples Florida. While the damage was significant in many areas, we were so fortunate we did not experience the storm surge they predicted even as the storm was hitting. A second eye wall saved our community.

Beautiful Sunrise on Felicita Court

The photo above was captured on August 24th from our backyard. I love this vista with our beautiful oak tree framing the sunrise and the small lake. Unfortunately we lost this majestic tree to Irma. Overall we lost 8 large beautiful trees. They all miraculously fell away from the house minimizing our damage from the storm.

Irma during the eye of the storm

Here is the tree in the lake as the eye of the storm went over us. You can see here the sun trying to shine through. It was the most surreal experience – total calm as we waited for the back end of the storm. We were in the eye for about 45 minutes.

#Irmarecovery

And this was us working today to take apart the big oak tree one branch at a time. #irmarecovery. We were without power for a week and had a boil water and water conservation order for 11 days. This experience reminded us of how fortunate we are to live with the luxuries of electricity, A/C, clean water and sewer systems. There were convoys of electric power trucks coming down from the north to bring millions of customers back online. So grateful to all these men and women who came to our aid.

Shutters up!

Here is the back of our home with all our shutters up prior to the storm. During the storm we stayed in my closet which is the most inner place in the house. When those winds were gusting I was very glad to be there. To add to all this craziness we are in the middle of a renovation in our home. I have never lived in such chaos!

Did I mention I work in the insurance industry?! It has been an incredibly stressful and crazy few weeks. Recovery in our community will takes months and even years for some areas. Well now you know what I have been up to…

A quick card created with the Painted Harvest Photopolymer Stamp Set. This stamp set is wildly popular and creating with it is very fun. I have seen Christmas Wreaths made with this set as well. It is a very versatile stamp set.

The sentiment is from the retired set Thoughtful Branches. Can you see the fru-fru bow? It was created with Crushed Curry Thick Bakers Twine.

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend.

Four Feathers for a Happy Birthday

Stampin Up Pattern Party Masks Four Feathers Bundle Birthday card idea Michelle Gleeson Stampinup SU

This card was created with a retired stamp set and coordinating dies called Four Feathers. It was inspired by a SU Artisan Design Team member using the current Feather Together Stamp Set.

I love the color combination – Pool Party, Tranquil Tide, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla.

Using one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and a sponge dauber I created the diamond background. This is pool party ink on pool party card stock; it creates a soft subtle background.

The very vanilla panel is 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ and was randomly stamped with the feathers then layered onto a 2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Tranquil Tide card stock.

Layering Circle Framelits create the focal point. I tucked a piece of Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon (retired) behind the circle which was mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimentionals. A small banner was created from Color Theory DSP for a splash of color. And the sentiment is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set. This is one of the most versatile birthday stamp sets. It is really my go-to stamp set for birthday cards recently.

A few droplets of Nuvo Crystal Drops or Crystal Effects add some shine.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Happy Crafting,

Michelle

Creating a Wow Affect with Embossing Paste

Stampin Up Embossing Paste Stencils Washi Tape Michelle Gleeson Stampinup SU

I am sitting in the airport on my way to Chicago to help our youngest son move. He is entering his senior year and moving from the Fraternity house to a single family house he will be sharing with several of his Frat brothers. So this post will be quick.

I created this card using Stampin’ Up! Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Nuvo Mother of Pearl Embossing Mousse. ♥ I used retired Washi Tape along the left side and then added 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Ribbon in Peekaboo Peach for a splash of color. The panel was then mounted to a Calypso Coral card base.

The tag and sentiment are from the Wood Words Bundle. Sweet and simple embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

I hope you have a great long weekend and find some time to create.
