April 2015 Pals Blog Hop

April Hop Badge

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for April where every day is Earth Day.  This month we are showcasing projects that use recycled, reused or other earth inspired elements and colors.  We hope you enjoy the Pals creative projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Kerry Willard Bray at Peonies and Paper Chains, number 17 on the Pals Hop.  If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

As I create I often change my mind or decide not to use an element that I punched, cut out or stamped. These items are never tossed away instead they go into the scrap tray pictured below.

Scraps

So for this project I decided to recycle my scraps.  First I dumped all the scraps on my craft table.

Scraps galore

Then I picked out a scrap that was a Deco Framelit cut out from a sheet of the All Abloom DSP paper stack.  You can see it in the left hand corner above. My intention was to use this piece however it ended up just being the inspiration for the color palette. Here is the result…

Pals Blog hop

With the exception of the Lost Lagoon Base all the pieces were scraps.  The first layer in Natural White card stock. Then I have a 3 1/4" square piece of Lost Lagoon and a 3" square piece of Pistachio Pudding. I took a piece of Lost Lagoon Thick Bakers Twine from Sale-A-Bration and wrapped it around the base. It just fit so I hid the knot behind the medallion. The circle with the medallion embossed in silver was added with double stacked dimensional. A sweet stamped butterfly on Pear Pizzazz card stock was embellished with some Basic Jewel Rhinestones.

And inside a sweet sentiment from the Best Day Ever Sale-A-Bration stamp set.

I hope I inspired you to get out YOUR scraps and see what you can create!

A Simple Thank You

Simple thanks

Today I have a clean and simple thank you card.  This took minutes to create yet will put a smile of the face of the recipient.

The base is one of the great Stampin' Up! Note Cards and Envelope sets.  They come in Whisper White and Crumb Cake.  20 cards for only $10.95 a GREAT value.  Will we see Very Vanilla this year in the new Annual Catalog?  I think that would be terrific!

I then took a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it out with a non-stamping' up die.  It is 4 1/4" x 3".  Then I stamped the large flower from the Flower Patch stamp set. I stamped it once in Real Red and once in Tangerine Tango.  I added coordinating buttons tied with White Bakers Twine.

The sentiment from Something to Say was stamped with Black Memento Ink. Then the entire piece was adhered to the base with Multipurpose Glue.

I lined the envelope with retired DSP.  I think this is a great use of my retired DSP!

So don't forget that TODAY starts the FREE SHIPPING promotion from Stamping' Up!  So stock up on basics (Whisper White card stock, adhesives, note cards & envelopes, etc.), look closely at the Weekly Deals, and add in a wish list item you have not yet purchased.  I am thinking about adding the Fry Box.  With free shipping it is like getting it on sale!

Our catalogs are available on the right side panel for your browsing pleasure.  If I can answer any questions, just send me an email.

Stop back on Wednesday for the April Pals Blog Hop.  Have a great day!

Michelle

Easter Box-Baskets

Regardless of how old we are we still love to get surprises in the mail. Our sons are off at school and will not be with us for Easter. So last weekend I purchased goodies to ship off to them. As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and someone who loves to create beautifully wrapped packages. I jazzed up a few of the items in the their Box-Baskets.

Easter Boxests

Let's take a closer look at some of the items I put in their boxes.

Easter stuff

Protein bars dressed up with a belly band of the Sale-a-Bration DSP and adorned with the Petal Potpourri and Flower Medallion Punch (15% when purchased as a bundle!).

Easter boxests contents

Always great to have HandyWipes decorated with another band of DSP, retired Baked Brown Sugar ribbon, and a tag using From the Garden stamp set and coordinating Handpicked Framelits Dies (also 15% discount when purchased together!).

Easter goodies

Did you see the "love you're than Chocolate" tag attached to their chocolate bunny? This sentiment is part of the Lovely Amazing You Photopolymer Stamp Set. One of my favorite stamp set this Spring.

Well Stampin' Up! has an Easter give for all of us as well.

Hello There Thursday

Thursday's – the gateway to the weekend.  When we hit Thursday we know we are on the downslide of the week.  A great way to celebrate is to play along with the Pals Paper Arts Challenges. This week we have a color challenge.  This card came together quickly with the help of the Gold Soiree DSP.

Here are the colors for the challenge:

The Whisper White base  is 5 x 5 then the Kraft layer and the DSP layer are each 1/4" smaller around.  The center is 3" square.  I added the Crisp Cantaloupe Bakers twine along with a Pistachio Pudding embellishment from last years catty.  A couple of small flags of card stock at a bit of color to the Kraft card stock against the DSP.  And then (yes after I added the baker's twine) I decided to heat emboss the sentiment in gold.  I am so glad I did as I think it is perfect.  The sentiment is a Hostess Stamp Set from the Annual Catalog called Hello There.  I love the fonts in this set.

A quick, clean and simple card for you today.  Please stop by and see what the other PPA design team members have created with this color palette.

We do hope you will play along!

Michelle
