Spring in Southwest Florida

More Spring inSWFL

This is a tree in our front yard.  Each March these beautiful trees bloom across Southwest Florida.  The trees and flowers mark the changes in our seasons.  I hope Spring is around the corner for all our northern friends and family.

Recently, I have been missing my mojo for creating.  With a little reflection I realized I had strayed from what I love doing – capturing the moments of our lives through memory keeping.  Last weekend I pulled out my scrapbooks and project life pages and began creating.  I keep my books in chronological order so I needed to pick up back in the summer of 2012.  Yikes! I am behind.

I have a hard time limiting the photos on my pages especially when there are so many that capture the memories of the event.   As a result many pages don't have a lot of design work on them.  What I do like to do is journal.  When I go back to pages I did years ago my favorites are those where I told the story of the event.  The little details we forget are quickly remembered when reading the journaling.

So you will see me sharing some of my memory keeping along with cards and gift ideas.  I hope to continue to inspire you and your creative journey.

Celebrate Real Nice

It is Thursday and time for a new Pals Paper Arts Challenge.  This week we have a super fun sketch challenge by the talented Kerry Willard Bray.

I decided to feature on of the large stamp images from the Balloon Bash stamp set.  The sketch is clean and simple and I paired that up with a crisp color combination.

Gleeson-PPA244
The color combination is Whisper White, Night of Navy and Crushed Curry and oh so crisp in my opinion.  The card is oversized 6" x 4" and the panels are 6" x 2 1.2" and 6" x 2 1/8".  I typically don't fussy cut however I could not find a framelit I was happy with to create the look I wanted.  I did pop it up on Stamping Dimensionals to add to the card.

I felt the card seemed top heavy so I added three Rhinestones to the bottom.  The center rhinestone is larger than the other two.  I think they added the perfect balance I was seeking.

I added some pizzazz to the inside of the card as well.  I just love the fun water squirt images (I don't know what else to call them) on these stamps.

I hope you will play along with the Pals this week.  Here is the sketch:

Hello Baby!

This week's Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge is a pastel color palette.  I have never really liked pastel colors.  When I see pastel colors like this I immediately think – baby card!

PPA243

While I have accumulated a few baby stamp sets I don't use them very often.  I think the baby stamp set (Little Sunshine) in the Occasions Catalog is very versatile and not just for baby cards and gifts.

So here is my entry for the PPA 243 Color Challenge:

  PPA 243 -2

This card is very cute in person.  I don't think the photo is capturing the card.

The card is a long card, 6" x 3 1/2" and the next panel is 1/4" smaller all around.  I used the Something For Baby Bundle for my card.  The background was created using the adorable Large Polka Dot Textured Impression Folder (Love it!).  The circles were cut using the Circle Framelits Collection.

The inside is just as adorable.  This stamp is from the Little Sunshine Stamp Set in the Occasions Catalog.  While the stamp is a bubble frame it is setup that you can punch it out with the 1" circle punch.  The small sweetheart punch is part of the Itty Bitty Punch set.

While I am not crazy about pastels I am very pleased with this card.  Won't you play with the Pals this week as well?

Thanks for stopping by!
