Jan Blog Hop

Welcome to the first Pals Blog Hop of 2015. We hope your new year is off to a great creative start. To celebrate the start of a new Stampin' Up! year, we are showcasing products from our newest catalog this month – the Occasions catalog. You may also see new Sale-a-bration products too. If you don't know how to earn free Sale-a-bration products – contact your Stampin' Up! demonstrator to learn more.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Beth Beard at My little craft blog. Use the full lineup below to move along from blog to blog so you see all of the new projects.

One of my FAVORITE items in the new Occasions Catalog is the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Project Kit and coordinating stamp set.  I love to be organized and while I have birthdays and anniversaries on my electronic calendar I still seem to forget or miss a birthday.  I thought creating this calendar that now sits on my craft table will remind me of upcoming events I want to create a card for.  So let's get to it…

  Complete calendar peek

This shows you the unique header for each of the months.  It was so fun to think of how I wanted to embellish each month. This leads me to my cautionary tale…

I was so enthusiastic about creating that I forgot to look at the details of the printed calendar sheet.  I created January and then I began jumping around to other months (as ideas popped in my head) without thinking about the days of the month printed on the calendar sheets.  When I got to November I realized I was looking at a calendar sheet with only 28 days.  Ooops.  So I remade February and had to create a new header for November as noted above.

As a perfectionist this is difficult to confess, however I thought I might be able to save someone else from getting swept up in the excitement and doing the same thing.

The kit comes with the Chipboard base and clip to hold each month's calendar.  All you have to do is change it out each month.  The box that the kit comes in is also perfect for storing the months you are currently not using.

You can see I also added some embellishment to the bottom of the calendar pages as well.  This kit was SO fun to do.

I think this would be a great gift, with a close eye on the calendar sheets this time.

Something old Becomes Something New

The Paper Players had a fun challenge this past week to recycle something and use it in your project.  Fun right? I had what I wanted to use but could not find the time to get my card done.  So despite the fact that the challenge closed yesterday at noon I am playing along anyway.

Something old

The base of the card is the yummy Baked Brown Sugar card stock. Then I added a piece of Soft Sky card stock.  My recycled item is a piece of wrapping paper (from The Paper Source) that I salvaged from my husband's birthday present. I have cut out a few more of these "postcards" from the paper for more cards or even my Project Life pages.

A little Crumb Cake Baker's Twine, Circle Framelits and a sentiment from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set complete the card.

I was uncertain that the modern font in the sentiment worked with the vintage look of the postcard. But the more I look at it the more I like it.

What do you think?  Does it work? I love hearing from you.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge #235

PPA 235 entry

The Pals Paper Arts color challenge this week has wonderful cool colors.  Here is the color badge:

PPA235

I wanted to used some much neglected stamps from the Stampin' Up! annual catalog for this challenge.  I used all three colors to create the background with the Dotty Angles stamp set.  Then I stamped the Bloom For You stamp in Versamark on a piece of Island Indigo and used Pool Party Emboss Powder.  I love the shiny finish.  I stamped the image again in Island Indigo on White card stock and punched the center out with the 7/8" Scallop Circle and added it to the original image that was punched using the Fun Flower punch.

The sentiment is from the December Paper Pumpkin kit. The monthly Paper Pumpkin kits are getting better and better each month.  I am so glad I decided to become a subscriber.  Are you a subscriber yet?  If not, click here and subscribe now and you can get the January kit!

I hope you have had time to page through the Occasions Catalog, if not click here.

Thanks for stopping by.
