Project Life by Stampin’ Up!

As I write this blog post I just said goodbye to Conor who is heading back to Gainesville.  Yesterday I took Pierce to the airport at the crack of dawn to head back to Chicago.  You might think this gets easier rather it seemed even harder.  Yep, I broke into ugly cries.  We had three great weeks together – we celebrated two birthday's (Christmas Even and New Year's Day) as well as Christmas and New Year's.

I really wanted to be fully present while they were home.  As a result, I did not capture as many photos as I would have liked.  I did capture important pieces and have been working on my Project Life – Hello December album.

I love this smaller album (6 x 8) and the Variety Pack Photo Pocket Pages provided a nice assortment of layouts. If you have not tried Project Life it is the perfect time to start.  The concept is to document not just those special occasions rather all the everyday moments that create our lives.  I love that concept.

While I am still working on journaling and adding embellishments to the pages I wanted to give you a bit of inspiration to get YOUR Project Life album going.

PL - Thanksgiving

I began my album with Thanksgiving – isn't that when the holiday season begins?  I will add photos from our holiday parties as well.

Below I captured Conor's 21st birthday.  It was a fun evening.

Now for a few Christmas morning pages…

PL - Christmas 1

PL Christmas 2

The process of capturing these memories reminds me of my many blessings.  While we each go back to our individual lives I have these memories to look back on again and again.

January is the perfect time to begin using Project Life by StampinUp (PLxSU) to capture the everyday.  I am pledging to make more of an effort to capture the everyday in 2015.  Won't you join me?

Another Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek

The Occasions Catalog goes live on Tuesday January 6th.  There are so many fun refreshing items in the new catalog.  I wanted to showcase another set I sued to create a quick and easy card for someone special.

Sheltering TreeAll the stamps used on this card are from the Sheltering Tree Photopolymer Stamp Set.  I love this set, it has so many possibilities.  It is very unusual for me to create a single layer card yet this stamp set makes it easy to create a card with texture.

There are times when the creative process does not work.  I initially tried the "Baby Wipe Technique" to create the leaves.  However it did not yield the color I wanted so I simply added the leaves in Wild Wasabi.  I like the peeking of the colors through the green leaves.  They could be spring blossoms, or perhaps the hint of changing leaves in the Fall.

I would love to hear about a creative process that did not go as you had planned and how you turned it into a successful result.

Thanks for stopping by!

2015 – The Adventure begins

Happy New Year!  The launch of the new year brings a sense of excitement as we anticipate fulfilling our dreams and reaching new goals.  So this week I used a new stamp set, Adventure Awaits, available in the 2015 Occasions Catalog in just 5 days!

The Adventure Begins

And here is this week's PPA Color Challenge Badge:

PPA234

It is always difficult to photograph the metallic papers.  The card is very striking in person, as I used the Brushed Silver Cardstock.  The ribbon embellishment is two layers of ribbon.  The bottom layer is Night of Navy 1/2" Seam Binding and Smoky Slate 1/8: Taffeta Ribbon that has beautiful silver edging.  The stars were created using the two smallest Star Framelits.

The Adventure begins 2

I think this photo shows off the silver cardstock a bit better.

I even embellished the inside of the card using a little All is Calm Washi Tape.

The Adventure inside

Today is John's (my hubby) birthday.  It is always tough because by this time we all have celebration fatigue (our son Conor's birthday is Christmas Eve as well).  So our day will be relaxing and I will make him a special dinner.  He says is is just what he wants.

If you have any questions please email me.  Thanks for stopping by!

Quick and Easy Thank You Cards

Now that the gifts have been given and received it is time to send out thank you cards.  I have created these quick and easy cards for our sons to send.

Thank you cards

  • The Stampin' Up Note Card and Envelopes in Whisper White help to make these cards a cinch to create.
  • Run one half of the card through the Big Shot with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
  • Take your favorite washi tape and run it between the stripes.  I used the stripe from the All is Calm Designer Washi Tape collection and the Chevron pattern from the Santa & Co Designer Washi Tape Collection, both from the Holiday Catty.
  • The sentiment is from the Hey You Stamp Set and stamped in Cherry Cobbler.
  • A quick punch with the Label Bracket and a few dimensionals and the card is complete!

  Thank you 2

Don't forget to shop the Clearance Rack, many of the holiday catalog items (including the Washi Tape used on this card) are now on Clearance.

Thanks for stopping by.
