Teenage Girl Amazing Birthday Card

My niece celebrated her 17th birthday on Monday.  She is adorable, sweet and full of energy.  Since I have two sons I have always enjoyed getting to make something fun (and pink) for my goddaughters.

As a 17 year old she is a fashionista ,so I wanted to create a card very on trend.  Chevrons continue to be on trend so out came several tools and stamps to create my card.

Emily birthday

The base of the card is Strawberry Slush and I used the Chevron Textured Embossing Folder.  It gives the card great texture.  Then I took the chevron from the Work of Art stamp set and using Elegant Eggplant inked up the stamp only once yet continued stamping it to get the Ombre effect.

Then I took the Amazing Birthday Stamp Set and went to town with the colors.  If you follow my blog you know I love green and purple together.  It seemed the perfect color to mix with Strawberry Slush.

I had fun with the inside of the card as well.

Inside of the card

I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White in Elegant Eggplant and then stamped it on scraps in Old Olive and Strawberry Slush.  I fuzzy cut the those elements I wanted to add from the scraps.  Super cute don't think?

On a personal note I could not be more excited, Pierce is coming home today!!!  His first quarter is over and he is heading home.  I know he is just as excited to be heading home.  There is something magical about the first time you come home from college.  I remember the first time Conor came home.  The energy was pure excitement.

Stop by this weekend I have a fun project to share that was done by one of my colleagues at work.  Super cute idea for a quick and inexpensive little holiday gift for someone.

Winter wishes

There is nothing says Christmastime like the simple elegance of green and red together.

I am embarrassed to tell you this is the first time I inked up this stamp set.  The Wonderous Wreath Bundle is fantastic.  If you have not mastered this stamp and framelit set then I encourage you to watch the Stampin' Up! video here.  The beautiful embossing detail is from using the Filigree Frame Embossing Folder from the Holiday Catty.  It adds the perfect amount of whimsical texture to the card.

Winter wishes 2

In this photo you can somewhat see that the berries on the wreath have a glimmer.  I used Burgundy Red Stickles to add some blink.  It looks really pretty when the light hits it.

And here is the inside of the card.  Again I used a Textured Embossing Folder.  I did not realize when creating this that I used a retired frame.  The sentiment would also fit in one of the current Fun Frames Embossing Folders.

So what do I think is essential for eveyone's wish list?  The Big Shot!  I use my Big Shot with almost every project I do.  It works with framelits, dies, and embossing folders.  It is an essential tool in my craft room.

The next stop is Shannon Hokanson at Paper Works by Shannon on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you in 2015.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas Season and a Happy New Year.

Trim the Tree Birthday Wishes

Birthday Wishes

Another masculine birthday card being showcased today.  The base of the card is Garden Green.  The main attraction is the Trim the Tree DSP Paper Stack.  I trimmed it to cut off right where one of the Garden Green stripes would have been.

The fun of this card is all the layering.  The Whisper White card stock is matted on Garden Green card stock.  I stamped the stars from the Be the Star stamp set and then I punched a few stars from Champagne Glimmer Paper and adhered to the card with dimensionals.  Then sentiment is from Four You.

A clean, crisp masculine card.  Let's check out the inside…

I added some fun with more images from the Be the Star stamp set.  And this sentiment comes from Perfect Pennants.

A Masculine Happy Birthday

IMG_5621

Happy Saturday.  If you are like me you have a long list of things you wnat to accomplish this weekend.  I hope you can find a little time to yourself in your craft space.

Today's card was CAS'd from Michelle Last a very talented UK demonstrator.  While I am still working on my own inking technique I wanted to share a quick How To.

  • Before opening your stamp pad, squeeze it together.  When you open it you will have captured ink on the top of the case.
  • Using my Sponge Dauber I tap the top of the dauber in the ink on the top of the case and then in a circular motion begin to ink the edge of my paper.

As I said I am still working on getting the inking even.  As the saying goes practice makes perfect!

Each strip of Under the Tree DSP paper is 1" wide.  I rounded the edges with my corner rounder. The star was cut out using two star framlits.  I love this look.

The sentiment, from Endless Birthday Wishses, was stamped and then punched out with the Note Tag Punch.  I finished with a Neutral button and Linen Thread.

Masculine Bday
