Thankful Birthday Blowout

Concord & 9th Thankful Leaves Turnabout Poppy Stamps Birthday Blowout Masculine Birthday Cards Michelle Gleeson

Today’s project was created for my brother who celebrates his birthday today.

The card is 7″ x 4 1/4″ something between a slimline and standard A2 card. Since I still have my SU Envelope Punch Board I can create an envelope for almost any size card!

The colors used are true Fall colors highlighting the Concord & 9th Thankful Leaves Turnabout stamp set. Love this set for fall. The card base is retired Baked Brown Sugar (I love this color and am so glad I bought an extra pack before it retired).

The leaves panel is 3″ by 5 3/4″ and it sits on a 3 1/4″ x 6″ panel brushed metallic copper paper. The leaf was die cut with Concord & 9th Autumn Harvest Dies from the same copper card stock.

The sentiment on the front and inside of the card is from Birthday Blowout from Poppy Stamps. I love the clean craftsman style font.  A few leaves from the Thankful Leaves Turnabout stamp set frame the inside of the card well and add a splash of color.

The sun kept playing peek-a-boo behind the clouds leaving it difficult to get good photos. I was super happy with the card just not the photography. LOL

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

September 2020 PALS Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team created projects where “It’s the Sentiment that Counts.” We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Let’s take a look at my project and how it was created.

Stampin Up PALS Blog Hop Sept 2020 Guilded Sutumn DSP Arrange a Wreath Dies Birthday Card Ideas Michelle Gleeson Stampinup SU

Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper (DSP) is the backdrop for the project which is glued to a standard A2 Thick Whisper White card base. Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and mount to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then using the Wreath Builder Dies cut three wreaths in Just Jade, Cinnamon Cider, and Gilded Autumn DSP and glue them to the rectangle offsetting them slightly. Add the glue to the thin continuous “branch” the leaves branch off of, then fluff up the leaves for dimension.

Now it is time to focus on creating the sentiment. The Happiest of Birthdays Stamp Set has big sentiments perfect to create a focal point for your card or project. The sentiment was heat embossed on vellum using Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies. I LOVE these dies.

The sentiment was adhered to the  wreath using Mini Glue Dots. Roll them and hide under the embossed sentiment.

Then a piece of gold metallic trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack was tied in a bow. A retired copper acorn embellishment was tied to the bow and then added to the wreath with a mini glue dot. A few Gold Glitter Enamel Dots were added to the wreath as a finishing touch.

A peek inside the card…

I love to carry design elements from the outside of the card to the inside. Here I simply die cut another wreath and cut it to drape layers across the top. It really adds a festive feel to the card.

The Gilded Autumn DSP mixes metallics and is so on trend. The copper and gold work beautifully together.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on October 14th when our theme is “Tag, You’re It!” Participants will showcase tags or 3D items that will be great for gifts for any occasion. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.

Pinwheel Party for FMS450 and FabFriday196

FabFriday196 FMS450 Anytime card ideas Michelle Gleeson The Greetery Pinwheel Party

The Pinwheel Party collection from The Greetery is fun, festive and perfect for the Freshly Made Sketch this week.

FMS450

The color palette from Fab Friday Challenge is oh so very fall and perfect for this masculine card.

We have two adult sons living in cities 1,000 miles away, it will be a perfect to include in a Fall care package I am working on for each of them.

The card begins with simple layering of the Gilded Autumn DSP onto Basic Black card stock each being cut using the Stitiched Rectangle Dies.

The Pinwheel stencils were used with the first round of sponging using a heavy hand while the second round was a light touch of color. Each Pinwheel was then cut using the coordinating dies.

Then sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Sketched Flowers was heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder on Basic Black card stock and then hand cut.

A gems from my stash add the finishing touch.

It is so hot and humid here that I am using fall colors to bring on cooler temps. If only it was that easy.

Thanks for stopping by. Stay well and safe.

Grateful Heart

Karin Markers Neat&Tangled Grateful Heart Thank you card ideas Michelle Gleeson

One of the wonderful aspects of the paper crafting world is meeting new people and creating special relationships with those people.

I created this card for someone who I am so grateful for her continued loyalty as a SU customer. While the stamps and dies used are not SU the card base and DSP are retired SU products.

I love the look of watercoloring however getting the right amount of water and paint always seems to be a challenge for me. It is that perfectionistic tendency which watercoloring has no place for…

I decided to try a set of Karin Markers for watercoloring. That is how I colored this floral set. As my first venture with these markers I was pretty pleased. However I have a LONG way to go.

It was early morning sun so these photos were tough to capture.

Thanks for stopping by.
