Santa’s Sleigh for PPA 316

Stampin Up Santa's Sleigh Christmas Card Idea - Michelle Gleeson Stampinup

This week’s PPA hostess is Patti McLeith and she has given us a fun sketch for this week’s challenge.

PPA-316-Sep01

I went vertical with my card as I wanted to feature a couple new products from the Holiday catty which went live TODAY! Let’s start with the Christmas Tree that takes center stage on this card. I used the new Emerald Envy Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder which makes the tree glisten. This is the third tree that I created for the card. I wanted to share what I learned.

Tree using Versamark and Emerald Envy Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder

After generously wiping my card stock with the Stampin’ Buddy, I stamped the tree using Versamark ink. Then I sprinkled the Emerald Envy Glitter over the stamped tree, tapped off the excess powder and using a fine paint brush removed traces of glitter on the card stock.

Then I heated up my Heat Tool then brought it over the tree to melt the embossing powder. This is where the trouble began. The glitter started to fly off the card and I burnt the card stock in my desire to “see” the emboss powder melt.

I love a clean crisp image when I stamp and this certainly did not fit the bill.

Again I generously wiping my card stock with the Stampin’ Buddy, then I stamped the tree image using Emerald Envy ink. Now I sprinkled Emerald Envy Glitter over the stamped tree, tapped off the excess powder and using a fine paint brush removed traces of glitter on the card stock.

This time I heated up my Heat Tool then heated up the embossing powder from underneath the card stock. This melted the embossing powder without losing the glitter. I did finish it off by heating it from the top. I also did not burn the paper!

This is a much better image of the tree. The Emerald Envy ink filled any gaps when heating the emboss powder.

The only difference between this tree and the one that ended up on my card is that I used Garden Green ink with the Emerald Envy Glitter to coordinate better with the Garden Green card stock used when building the presents along the side of the card.

I hope these tips assist you when using the new Emerald Envy and Real Red Glitter Embossing Powder. The result is beautiful and will add a WOW factor to your cards this holiday season. Here is a close up of how the tree glistens (this is super hard to capture in a photo) with the Emerald Envy Glitter Embossing Powder.

Wondrous Wreath for Pals Paper Arts

Today I am the hostess for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge! The colors are beautiful together yet I struggled with finding my Stampin’ Mojo. As the hostess, I wanted my project to be extra special. I am sure the pressure I put on myself didn’t help. Here are the color’s for this week’s challenge:

PPA-315-Aug25

I was drawn to use the Circle of Spring OR Wondrous Wreath stamp set. After trying both sets, Wondrous Wreath won the starring role. I think the colors look striking against the Whisper White background.

I showed it to my husband and he said, “Why did you use a Christmas wreath?” My heart sank but the more I looked at my card the more it made me smile. So I went with the card anyway.

The wreath is stamped using Old Olive ink. The first stamp was stamped off once before being stamped onto the card stock. The second stamp was “full strength” ink. I chose to use the flowers from the Circle of Spring stamp set. The Wondrous Wreath Framelits were essential in creating the look. [TIP: When using the Wondrous Wreath Framelits, cut out the center first then stamp the wreath.]

The Dapper Denim flourish border from the Flourish Thinlits provides lacy detail to frame the wreath. A bit of Linen Thread and Regal Enamel Dots provide the finishing touches.

Although I struggled to get going, I am happy with my project. I hope you are inspired to play along this week. Please join us at www.palspaperarts.com

Suite Seasons For PPA 314

Today’s card is CASE’d from the Annual Catalog using a sentiment from the Holiday Catalog launching on September 1st. It worked perfect for today’s Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge from Amy Lazzell.

PPA-314-Aug18

This is a quick and easy holiday card with plenty of bling. The Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate is the star of the show. Using the largest banner from the Banner Framelits I cut the acetate. A strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive under where my ribbon and sentiment would go  anchored the acetate banner perfectly to my Garden Green card stock base.

The 1/4″ Natural Trim with Gold Metallic center was folded and kept in place with Mini Glue Dots. The sentiment will be available on September 1st when the Holiday catalog goes live, it is part of the Suite Seasons stamp set.
