John & I in Olympic National Park Washington

Hello Stampin Mojo followers! I  have been on a much needed vacation since my last post. We went on a trip with a company called Backroads. Once again we had a wonderful experience. If you enjoy outdoor activities, I encourage you to look into this company. We have been on seven trips, five were family trips, and each experience was wonderful.

On to the post…

This week our color palette was created by Rae Harper. She is one creative paper crafter. I love these fall colors and had fun creating something that was not fall themed.

The Paisley & Poises Bundle was my inspiration. The coordinating framelits made the card easy and fun to create. The three center images are popped up on dimensionals and the ones on the ends were adhered flat onto the card. This gives the card depth and more interest.

I carried the design theme to the inside of the card which adds a bit of fun I think.

We all like to know the dimensions:

  • Elegant Eggplant layer is 2 3/4″ x 5 1/5″
  • Crushed Curry layer 2 1/5″ x 5 1/2″
  • Very Vanilla layer 2 1/4″ x 5 1/5

Please hop over to see what the other designers created with this color palette at Pals Paper Arts. We would love to have you join us and play along. Thanks for stopping by.

Bed of Leaves Birthday

Today at the Pals Paper Arts we have a color challenge by the very talented Peggy Noe. Peggy’s soft romantic style certainly influenced her color choice for us this week.

Participating in color and sketch challenges has taught me to push my creativity. I love the color green however I have struggled with the strong deep color of Emerald Envy. So this week’s color palette pushed me as I tried to do justice to this color combination.

In the end I used three stamp sets and two sets of thinlits to create my card.

I began with cutting out four leaf branches* using the Flourish Thinlits. Then I stamped on of the trees (focusing on only stamping the leaves portion of the tree) from the new Totally Trees Photopolymer stamp set. And then I selected the branch of leaves from Love & Affection Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp in Emerald Envy.

I added Ruched Ribbon in Flirty Flamingo and the sentiment is from Rose Wonder stamp set using Rose Garden Thinlits to cut it out.

*The color palette calls for Flirty Flamingo and I accidentally used Watermelon Wonder for the Flourish leaf branches. The ribbon and ink used for the sentiment are both Flirty Flamingo. I think it coordinates beautifully.

I hope I inspired you to participate in the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week. Let’s go check out what the other design team members did with the challenge.

Floral Stylized Birthday Greetings

This is a eye catching super easy card to create. It starts with the layout which was provided by the uber talented Beth Beard for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge. This layout is a go-to layout and I encourage you to Pin-it to refer to regularly.

Creating the WOW factor is easy with the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper. I remember turning the page to the Floral Boutique Suite in the annual catalog and being blown away by the crisp dramatic look of every element in this suite. This DSP is so versatile as it has floral patterns as well as small prints that can be used for masculine cards.

The Flourish Thinlits are key to adding texture and a festive flair to this birthday greeting. I used two of the flowers and layered them using Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Night of Navy (Regals Collection) Enamel Shape is the exclamation point to my flower and pulls everything together.

The font of the Stylized Birthday stamp makes any card fun and sassy. This single stamp only comes in wood. I don’t mount the stamp on the wood block. I place the clear label onto the stamp and then add a thin layer of Multipurpose glue to make it sticky to adhere to my clear block.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please hop over to the Pals Paper Arts Challenge and see what the design team members created for this sketch challenge. We would love to see your creativity too. You don’t need a blog to play. Post your card on Pinterest and link it up!

Moroccan Nights for Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

stampin up Moroccan Nights PPA317 Michelle Gleeson stampinup

I am in love with the yummy fall colors chosen by Michelle Quinno for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.

PPA-317-Sep08

While a card filled with fall leaves would be stunning I wanted to stretch my creativity. I have heard some people say they don’t get the Moroccan Nights stamp set. I fell in love with the gorgeous medallion as soon as I saw it. And then last week Marissa Gunn of the SU Artisan Design team created this stunning card using the lanterns. I could not wait to try creating one of the lanterns myself.

The medallion was inked using sponge daubers starting with the lightest color on the inside and working out. The lantern was stamped with Versamark on vellum and embossed with the Copper Stampin’ Emboss powder. The powder melted to a smooth finish. Then I colored in the lantern with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker.

I created a banner that says Happy Birthday for the front to send to a special friend. This card could be used for almost any occasion so I left the sentiment off the card to share with you.

In the photo below I have highlighted some of the products used for the project. I hope I have changed your mind on this stamp set. I really think it has some wonderful artistic elements.
