Floral Affection for PPA #309

Today’s card was inspired by this rich color palette created by Katy McGloin. I have struggled with the new In-Color Sweet Sugarplum therefore this was a true challenge for me.

PPA-309-July14

I created two cards because I was struggling finding my stampin’ mojo. Let’s look at the one I chose to share as a design team member.

Stampin Up, Floral Affection Embossing Folder, birthday card - Michelle Gleeson, stampinup

Floral Affection Textured Embossing Folder adds texture and the small flowers from Jar of Love Bundle add a splash color.

stampin up, Flourish Thinlits, Friendship card - Michelle Gleeson, Stampinup

Flourish Thinlits is the focal point for this card. My husband thought this was very plain so I went back to the drawing board and came up with the one I posted for the design team.

The cards are so very different. Which card to you like better?

Don’t forget to go and see what the other design team members created with this color palette over at Pals Paper Arts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Capturing Everyday Beauty

Memory Making Monday's - Michelle Gleeson

Last week I shared a special event; today I want to share the importance of sharing the everyday happenings of our lives in our memory keeping albums. I love this quote (source unknown).Unknown

Stampin Up, Project Life, Cature the Everyday - Michelle Gleeson, Scrapbooking

Today we capture so much more than we could years ago with our phones. (I wish I had my iPhone back when my kids were growing up.) So why not include many of these moments in our albums. I don’t live in the country however we are surrounded by natural beauty and I find myself stopping to capture the moment.

Memory Making Monday tips and resources:

  • I used Stampin’ Up! Go Wild DSP stack (retired) as the background for a couple of the photos.
  • I also used Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set In The Meadow for the grass and the tree that accent the page.
  • Ali Edwards digital brushes add commentary to my photos, titles or even alone as I did above.
  • I did use a Project Life card from the Picturesque edition.

Are you enjoying this series on Memory Keeping? I would love to hear from you.

May your week be filled with many moments worth capturing.

A Perfect Day to be Happy

Every day is the perfect day to be happy and sometimes there are extra special days to be happy.

Stampin up, Vintage Leaves, PPA308 - Michelle Gleeson, StampinMojo, SU

I was inspired to create this Happy card from the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge and Serene Scenery DSP Stack. Here is the sketch for this week:

PPA-308-July07

The Serene Scenery DSP Stack gave me the color palette of Delightful Dijon, Old Olive and Whisper White. The mat borders are small 1/8″ around.

The leaf from Vintage Leaves was stamped in Delightful Dijon and cut out using the coordinating Leaflets Framelits Dies.

Do you know where the the sentiment is from? Bunch of Blossoms!

And the Delightful Dijon Striped Ribbon was the perfect coordinating element. That is one of my favorite aspects of SU – everything coordinates so beautifully!

Regal Enamel Shapes were the final finishing touch.

I used the same DSP on the flap of the envelope.

I hope you will join the Pals and play along with the sketch challenge. Let’s go over and see what the design team did with this sketch. So much talent!

Thanks for stopping by!

Memory Making Monday – Graduation Celebration

Memory Making Monday's title

Capturing memories is not just for special events and special moments. Yet we LOVE to capture the special events. That was certainly true as I captured our eldest’s recent college graduation.

Making Memories Monday, StampinMojo, Graduation Celebration, Project Life

Here I used Project Life pocket pages to capture the event.

Memory Making Tips:

  • Save memorabilia to include in your page
  • Combine traditional elements and digital brushes
  • Don’t feel confined to the pocket size as you can split a photo or make it smaller with a Fuse Tool.

On the left side I used photos to set the stage and elements of the program to identify the event. SU Paper Pumpkin kit for May had the perfect color orange corrugated paper to use as an accent.

The right side of the layout include Ali Edwards Digital Brushes (love her script). This page was six 4″x6″ pockets. I used my Project Life Fuse Tool to make the middle right two 3″x4″ pockets. This adds so many options to your page creation options.

A side note, we are selling our home and I have all my scrapbooks booked up and in our storage unit. My husband was telling that he had been wanting to page through some of the books and misses having them around. It is not the same as sitting at a computer. Books allow us to page through, talk about the pages and contemplate those moments. I am so glad I have invested time to build these books.

Today let’s celebrate our country’s independence. Despite the challenges we face we remain the greatest country in the world. I hope you create some great memories today and that I am inspiring you to capture them.
