Pals April Blog Hop – Families First

2016badge-dijon

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for April 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month we are featuring projects that are all about our families. This is a great time of year to think about what to make for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or upcoming graduations. And, family vacations are just around the corner… how would you want to remember those special family moments? We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I have four graduations this May. The first graduation will be our oldest son graduating from the University of Florida. That time flew by. The other three are nieces and a nephew graduating from high school. I made each of them a card using their high school colors.

The background was created using a congratulations stamp from the SU Bravo stamp set. You must have this stamp set for your craft room. The stamp set is photopolymer making this a cinch to create.

The graduation cap was created using the smallest Square Collection Framelit (1 1/2″ square) and then making each successive square 1/8″ smaller. I punched a hole in the center and used a brad with a black candy dot as the button for the tassel to go around. The tassel is Real Red card stock cut 1/16″ thick and then folded over with Silver Cording wrapped around it.

The inside sentiment for the card is from B.Y.O.B stamp set. The cap is from a retired stamp set called Pomp & Circumstance.

This design is slightly different using all the same elements. I used Night of Navy and Bashful Blue (retired) to mimic the school colors. This is where hoarding old DSP paid off!

This color combination is Tangelo Twist and Black, again school colors. This is for my niece and seemed too masculine with the color combination, so I added a rhinestone to the exclamation point. I still might find a way to “dress it up” before I send it.

Grateful Bunch

STampinMojo, Grateful Bunch, Thinking of You

A soft and feminine card to send to a friend who lost her husband in February. She is a dynamic woman in her 70’s who continues to impact all those around her.

I love this stamp set and hope it carries over to the Annual Catalog. This week many demonstrators will gather in Salt Lake City Utah for the launch of the new catalog. The rest of the demonstrators will get to see the catalog next week. I can’t wait! I love the unveiling of new product.

The color palette is Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White and Blushing Bride.

A Market Fresh Celebration

This week’s color palette from Michelle Quinno for the Pals Paper Arts is fresh and fun. Check out the colors:

PPA-295-Apr07

I wanted to do something different and reach for a stamp set I have not used in a while – Market Fresh filled the bill.

StampinMojo, Michelle Gleeson, Market Fresh, PPA295

I went to a luncheon last week on the status of organics in the marketplace. Did you know that it is a $45 Billion industry and rapidly expanding? What was once a cottage industry, now feeds retailers like Wal-Mart, Costco, and Target. I know I buy organics but I am not a diehard organics only kind of gal. My tostada chips and salsa can come from any where. Ha!

Back to the card…the background was created using Crumb Cake ink and the Timeless Textures stamp set on Crumb Cake card stock. I stamped the lettuce from the Market Fresh stamp set using Cucumber Crush ink and card stock. I stamped it again on Whisper White in Versamark and used Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder for the sentiment. I snipped this out with my Paper Snips and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. You can see the shine in this photo.

Sneak peek

I love the Bermuda Bay and Cucumber Crush card stock together. ♥ The Basic Black card stock base makes the entire card pop!

You know I always do something with the inside of my cards as well. I used the Enjoy the Little Things Photopolymer Stamp Set. More Love!!

A Simple Swallowtail

Swallowtail, Embossing, StampinMojo, Awesomely Artistic

My Stampin’ Mojo came from Julie Kettlewood. http://juliesjapes.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/swallowtail.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/OnLMF+(Julie’s+Japes)  I Copied And Selectively Edited her card to create my own version. I am pretty pleased with it.

The Swallowtail is embossed with retired Calypso Coral embossing powder. This gives it a beautiful shine and made snipping the front of the card super easy.

The flowers are from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and the tag is from Awesomely Artistic stamp set. And finally the sentiment is from Enjoy the Little Things stamp set.

I even stamped the flowers on the corner of the envie.

I hope you have been inspired to create today. Thanks for stopping by!
