Retired DSP takes on Current DSP

I love paper. The more I love a paper pattern the less likely I am to use it. How crazy is that? Today I am showing you two birthday cards using one layout. And I am using some favorite DSP patterns.

The first card (below) is using a retired DSP called Birthday Bash Specialty DSP and the coordinating stamp set called Balloon Bash. I love the splashes on the paper and within the coordinating stamp set.

StampinMojo, Birthday Bash DSP

This stamp set is photopolymer so I masked the splashes and the sentiment to stamp the HB in Calypso Coral and then I was able to easily ink the splashes and sentiment using a Bermuda Bay ink spot from one of my Paper Pumpkin kits.

StampinMojo,

The stamp on the inside of the card is also from the retired Balloon Bash stamp set. I added Gold Wink of Stella to the flame tips so the candles look like they are glowing. I am also showing off my #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp which I am added to the back of envies.

This is the same layout just using different DSP and a different shape for the sentiment. This card features the current It’s My Party DSP. The balloon was punched using the Balloon Bouquet Punch. Can you see the Silver Thread coming off the balloon as it’s string? The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set.

I am often asked about this sentiment stamp. I purchased it from a big box hobby store. I am not sure which one.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post  using one layout with two different looks.

Bright and Festive Birthday Wishes for PPA 294

Happy Thursday! I have a card that will really wake you up this morning. I used Melon Mambo card stock and the It’s My Party DSP to create a bright and festive birthday card for the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge this week.

That Melon Mambo is bright and vibrant. The DSP adds a wonderful party flair.

I used a lot of layers for this card and I am sure some of you will want to have the dimensions. So here we go:

Base:  5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″

Whisper White layer:  5 1/4″ x 4″

Melon Mambo layer:  5″ x 3 3/4″

It’s My Party DSP layer:  4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″

The banner is 1 3/4″ wide and I had it 5″ long before using the Banner Triple Punch.

Sentiment square:

Melon Mambo layer:  2 3/4″

Whisper White layer:  2 1/2″

Melon Mambo layer: 2 1/4″

Whisper White layer with sentiment: 2″

The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set. I love the font in this set. The It’s My Party Enamel Dots are the perfect finishing touch.

Here is the Pals Paper Arts Sketch created by Dawn Tidd that inspired my card:

I hope you will play along with the Pals as well. It is a fun sketch to work with.

Petal Potpourri Birthday

This week I am the hostess for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge. I want to encourage you to play along so I created another card using the colors I chose.

PPA-293-Mar24

Mojo inspiration

  • Pals Paper Arts Colors
  • A card from Julie Davidson on Pinterest
  • Petal Potpourri stamp set

The “dots” are from the Perpetual Birthday calendar photopolymer stamp set. I have used these stamps so many times beyond the creation of the calendar kit. Truly a keeper stamp set.

I love the Petal Potpourri stamp set and was so bummed out when SU retired it last Spring. This stamp set coordinates with the Flower Medallion punch. I punched one flower in So Saffron and then stamped the flower and punched it out. I think added the solid flower helps the flower stand out among the polka dots.

The Blushing Bride Glimmer paper was just a little adding bling.

StampinMojo, Happy Birthday Everyone,

You know I love to decorate the inside of my cards as well. A few dots border the bottom and the sentiment comes from Happy Birthday Everyone. They had me at the font!

Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you will play along with the Pals Paper Arts this week.

Grateful Bunch for a Happy Easter

Today is another Pals Paper Arts color challenge. This week I am the hostess for our challenge. I selected a soft Spring/Easter color palette.

PPA-293-Mar24

I typically choose to work with brighter, bolder color palettes. I enjoyed working with this subtle palette very much.

StampinMojo, PPA293, Grateful Bunch Easter card

I adore the Grateful Bunch stamp set and coordinating Blossom Bunch Punch (say that three times fast). The butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and Bitty Butterfly Punch. The sentiment is from the Circle of Spring stamp set. The It’s My Party Enamel Dots are the finishing touch to the flowers

After finishing my card I wondered if it was too subtle so I tried another version.

StampinMojo, Grateful Bunch, PPA293

I stamped the flowers in Blushing Bride ink onto Blushing Bride card stock. I watercolored the leaves and then outlined with my Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker.

I would love to see you play along with the Color Challenge over at the Pals Paper Arts this week. You don’t need a blog to play, just use Pinterest to post your creation. Don’t forget to stop by and see what the rest of the design team did with the challenge.

Your comments mean a lot to me. I would like to know which design you like best?

May you enjoy the wonders of Spring and have a Happy Easter.
