Endless Birthday Wishes

StampinMojo, Endless Birthday Wishes, PPA289

Endless Birthday Wishes is one of my favorite sentiment stamp sets. You know I fall in love with the fonts in stamp sets this is one of those sets.

Endless Birthday Wishes

The color palette came from this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge was my inspiration. Lynn Hoyt is our hostess this week and she selected a beautiful palette.

PPA289

I created a border with my Simply Scoring plate and added a Basic Pearl at each corner. The Chalk Talk Framelits made punching out the tag a cinch. The 5/8″ Organza Ribbon is so wonderful to tie and adds the perfect accent.

The Perfectly Artistic DSP, available while supplies last added some interest and texture to the card. The flower is from the Botanical Builder Framlits Dies. It looks like the color is a little different but it is really just due to the finishes of the two different card stocks. They blend beautifully together in person.

Bringing Birthday’s Back

While saying Happy Birthday on Facebook is nice  but it often feels a bit “me too”. I want those who are special to me to go to their mailbox and find a handmade card celebrating their special day. Don’t you think that would make someone smile to find a card in the mail?

Shannon West of Stampin’ Up! is creating a movement called #imbringingbirthdaysback and I love the idea. You already know that I create a card for every associate in my office. I create cards for my family but I often am behind the eight ball (remembering too late) in sending a card to my extended family and friends. Well, I want to change that!

I love these two colors together, Mint Macaron and Lost Lagoon. The Confetti Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is the main event for my card and I love how it creates a festive feel.

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge was the perfect inspiration for my card. I flipped the sketch on its side!

Remarkable You for Freshly Made Sketches

When I see a sketch challenge that catches my eye I often create my card in my sleep. That is what happened with this card and Amy O’Neill’s clean sketch this week over at Freshly Made Sketches.

FMS 223 sketch layout

Let’s see what I came up with…

StampinMojo, Michelle Gleeson, Remarkable You, FMS223, watercoloring

I see so many beautiful cards created with watercoloring and this stamp set is perfect for watercoloring. I remain a novice at watercoloring so practice is what I need to keep doing. I am inspired by this quote provided by Ali Edwards through my participation in her One Little Word class for 2016.

Ali Edwards OLW quote for Feb

So as I look at the work of other demonstrators and crafters I am inspired to keep practicing!

I used Daffodil Delight for the watercoloring and then came back using my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker to outline the petals. I also ran my Clear Wink of Stella brush to add some shimmer. You can see the sun dancing off the edges on the left side of the photo. The stem was colored with Old Olive.

I chose not to add a sentiment as I thought the simplicity of the flower was a beautiful statement. Let’s check out the inside where I did add a sentiment.

StampinMojo, Butterfly Basics

I brought the honeycomb element to the inside of the card. The sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set. The butterfly is from the classic Papillon Potpourri stamp set. I stamped the butterfly in Basic Black Archival ink onto the Perfectly Artistic DSP available as FREE product through Sale-A-Bration when you spend $50 on Stampin’ Up! product. This DSP is still available while supplies last. It is also the background DSP for the front of the card.

I will keep practicing my watercoloring. Is there anything you are practicing? I would love to hear from you.
