Just for You

Just for You, Birthday card, StampinMojo, Michelle Gleeson

I adore the font of this stamp. When I first saw the sketch for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge I was not excited to give it a try. I just did not like it. But I wanted to take on the challenge.

PPA286

While I love this stamp set I had not yet used it so I decided to make it my focal point.

The color palette was determined when I selected the Wildflower DSP from Sale-A-Bration. Yummy Hello Honey, Black and White are very striking together.

I often struggle when there is a diagonal cut in a sketch. For this card I cut the DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″ and then put the DSP in my Stampin’ Trimmer on the diagonal to create the cut. Then I mounted the top piece on a piece of Whisper White with the same dimensions adding the bottom a bit more than a 1/4″ away from the top piece. A bit of trimming and I had created the “gap” I was looking for to meet the sketch.

The Bordering Blooms Photopolymer stamp set is another fav of mine. I thought it coordinated nicely with the DSP so I stamped the sunflower border stamp, adhered it to the base and then trimmed off the pieces that over hung the sides.

The inside sentiment is from a big box store. Aren’t the sunflowers adorable in the inside as well?

While at first I did not like the sketch, I am very happy with the result. I do hope you will play along with the Pals Paper Arts this week. You won’t want to miss what the sketch design team members have created.

Celebrating the Big Five-O

50th Birthday card, StampinMojo,

A colleague in my office is turning 50. She is a brit and loves the color purple. So my color palette had to have purple.

I used this beautiful DSP from the Wildflower Fields DSP collection which is FREE during Sale-A-Bration as my focal point. The branches have Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss at the ends. I adore this rich color combination.

I layered a Metallic Silver Foil dolly followed by a Mossy Meadow banner. The banner was created using a 1 1/2″ by 4″ strip then punching each end with the Banner Triple Punch.

The 50 was cut out using the Large Numbers Framelits in Coaster Board and Blackberry Bliss card stock. Layering the two gives the Five-O depth. I added them on the card with Stampin’ Dimensional. The “th” was stamped using the Number of Years stamp set and then cut out with another framelit from the Large Numbers Framelit set.

The happy was cut out in Brushed Silver card stock (retired) using a non-SU framelit I purchased from a local big box store.

Sentiment for 50th Birthday card, StampinMojo

You know I love to adorn the inside of the card as well. The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings and the border is from Bordering Blooms.

The envelope flap was dressed up with the same DSP as the focal point of the card. Love!

I think the card is fitting a big Five-O celebration. What do you think? I love to see your comments.

In the Meadow Masculine Birthday Card

Good morning and Happy Sunday! Do you believe it is the last day of January? It has been a crazy month and I am glad to have it behind me. If you follow my blog regularly then you know that I am enrolled in Ali Edward One Little Word Class (OLW) for 2016. My word is CREATE. In January I focused on creating space. Through clearing through papers, drawers, closets as well as my mind I wanted to create space mentally and physically. I must confess that as the month went on and work commitments took over my world I was not creating much space.

Tomorrow we begin a new month and my focus for my word will be on Creating Health and Fitness. I want to spend the next month following Whole 30 and getting back into my daily exercise routine. The point of one little word is to give you a focus for the year. So far I am enjoying the journey.

I know let’s get to the card! I have heard over and over that masculine cards are difficult. I agree they can be when our stamp sets and accessories are flowers, ribbon, and some bling.

When I see a nature stamp set in the catalog it usually finds its way into my shopping cart. The In The Meadow stamp set in the Occasions catalog is no exception. I fell in love with this set. It was the perfect image for the masculine birthday card I needed to create.

Here is more inspiration  from the catalog using this stamp set. Love!

Occasions Catalog Inspiration

You will never guess where the DSP is from? The Love Blossoms DSP stack. This is such a great paper stack with 48 sheets of 6″ x 6″ paper for only $8.00.

I stamped the image on Shimmery White card stock. I like using the shimmery white when I am going to watercolor. I like stamping on smooth finish card stock and it holds up better than regular Whisper White for watercoloring. I am still very much experimenting and learning how to watercolor. I find it is fun to stretch myself with this new technique. It does make you feel like an artist.

The sentiment came from Balloon Celebration another stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Watercolor Birthday Wishes

StampinMojo, Watercolor Wonder, PPA285

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color challenge uses two of my favorite 2015-2017 In-Colors; Watermelon Wonder and Tip Top Taupe. The third color Pink Pirouette is soft and pretty but a color I never think to use. There is the color badge for this week.

This color combination was created by Pal, Jackie Diediker.

I used the flower from the Watercolor Words stamp set. They were stamped with Tip Top Taupe and then heat embossed with Clear Stampin’ Embossed Powder. This creates a beautiful shine from the flowers. The flower centers (circles) were punched from the Owl Punch and then accented with Pink Pirouette candy dots from the Subtles collection.

The beautiful ribbon is the new Watermelon Wonder Ribbon that I cut in half with the Craft Scissors and then tied around the focal piece.

The sentiment came from Enjoy the Little Things stamp set and accented with Pearl Basic Jewels . I adore the fonts in this stamp set.

My card is 7″ x 3.5″ for a unique card shape. The 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper creates the perfect coordinating envelope.

I usually add a sentiment and some coordinating design element inside my cards. I think this is a fun birthday card filled with Watercolor Birthday Wishes.

Thanks for stopping by StampinMojo. I hope you will check out the fabulous designs by the other design team members at Pals Paper Arts.
