Pals Blog Hop – Stepping Up with Textures or Techniques

Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for May 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month we are featuring projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.
Booked Technique, StampinMojo, Pals Blog Hop, I am notorious for having guests for dinner and trying out a new recipe. I figure if it is a disaster we can always order pizza! Well, I did the same kind of thing with this Blog Hop. I have wanted to try the Bokeh technique and participating in this blog hop pushed me to give it a try and share my experience. I have several photos to share the process step by step.

Step 1: SpongingStep one – Take a Stamping Sponge (I cut my into quarters for easier handling) and sponge color from my Stampin’ Ink pad. I started with Calypso Coral.

Step 2: Add the second color

Step two – Sponge on the second color. I used Lost Lagoon. I am going to miss this color, I loved the softness of the blue.

Step 3: Dot on Craft Ink

Step three – Using a Sponge Dauber dot on White Craft Ink all over the sponged area. This will take a little while to dry. Then you can add it to your card and embellish away.

Bohel Technique, StampinMojo.I am pleased with my first try at this technique. I will definitely give it a try again. I hope I inspired you to try this technique if you have not done so already.

Thanks for visiting StampinMojo. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

Farwell to Amazing Birthday

Today I am showcasing several favored items that will be retiring on June 1st.

  • Amazing Birthday stamp set
  • Going Places DSP (fabulous for masculine cards)
  • Mossy Meadow  and Delightful Dijon (retiring in-colors)
  • Burlap Ribbon

Amazing Birthday, StampinMojo, Going Places DSP, Banner Framelits

I am tickled with this masculine birthday card. I used Thick Whisper White card stock as the base. The Going Places DSP is 1/4″ smaller than my A2 card base. The birthday cake stamp was stamped on Mossy Meadow card stock with Mossy Meadow ink then punched out with 1 1/4″ circle punch. I am so grateful the circle punches were not retired.

The Banner is from the Amazing Birthday stamp set and stamped in Delightful Dijon ink onto Delightful Dijon card stock. It is accented with Burlap Ribbon (cut in half) adhered to a (retired) Wooden Button threaded with Linen Thread.

The inside of the card is decorated as well. I like that off-center sentiment. Not my normal symmetrical look.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Soft and Elegant With Sympathy

StampinMojo, Grateful Bunch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch,, Rose Wonder, Sympathy

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge by Peggy Noe provided the perfect color palette for my sympathy card. Peggy’s design style is soft and feminine.  I hope I did her proud with the challenge.

PPA 299

It may be hard to tell but I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder for the sentiment and there is Gold Metallic Thread behind the sentiment.

I used an Aqua Painter filled with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and Pink Pirouette Inker* to create the watercolor background. *I take a couple of drops of the ink into a clear block and then squeeze a bit of the alcohol from my Aqua Painter to dilute the ink before starting to paint my watercolor paper.

Inside Peek, PPA 299, Rose Wonder

The inside of the card was also embossed in Gold. The flower from Itty Bitty Punch Pack adds softness and charm. If you don’t have this punch pack it should be on your list to purchase before they are gone!

Thanks for stopping by and please jump over to the Pals Paper Arts to see what the other designers are doing with this beautiful color palette. We want to see your creative designs as well. Please join us in playing with the Pals Paper Arts this week.

Happy 20th Birthday!

Our youngest son turns 20 years old on Thursday. He is in Chicago and we are in Southwest Florida; so all his gifts needed to get wrapped, boxed up and sent over a week ago. I had purchased beautiful handmade wrapping paper at Paper Source weeks ago. I made everything to coordinate with this beautiful paper.

StampinMojo, Paper Source Wrapping Paper, 20th Birthday, Masculine Birthday

For each package I made a coordinating gift tag. The first present uses the Retiring Big News sentiment. Grab this set before it is too late. It will retire on June 1st.

Stampinmojo, SU Big News, Masculine Birthday

The wrapping paper was natural with Navy Blue. I used Night of Navy, Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock to make the tag pop. The ribbon is also from Paper Source and is crumb cake and white. I adhered the tag with SU Linen Thread. Perfect!

StampinMojo, :Large Number Framelits, Masculine Birthday, Paper Source wrapping paper

This present has a tag using the Large Number Framelits. How can he be 20 already?

STampinMojo, Gift Card holder, Tin of cards, File Tabs, You're So Lovey

One of Pierce’s gifts is a gift card. I handled this over the phone so I had to create my own gift certificate. I CASE’d (Copy And Selected Edit) this from a sample Shelli Gardner did at the OnStage presentation in April. It is a Tag a Bag Gift Bag that is folded up and then closed with Washi Tape. I created a belly band with retired Regals DSP. The Lots of Framelits Collection is the perfect backdrop for my sentiment that was cropped with the Lots of Labels Collection. The banner is from the Mini Treat Bag framelits collection.

Gift Certicate, STampinMojo, Tag a Bag Gift Bags, Masculine Birthday

This is what the gift certificate looks like out of the bag. I love it. We are building up to the card.

StampinMojo, Big News, Emboss Resist, Masculine Birhtday

I used retired DSP this is emboss resist card stock. Using my brayer I colored the card stock in Night of Navy ink and then wiped off the card stock with tissue to reveal the white stars. There is more emboss resist card stock coming in the new catalog. It looks beautiful. It is on my wish list. The sentiment from Big News takes center stage. My Crumb Cake envelope was decorated with balloons from Balloon Celebration. I used White embossing powder with Dazzling Diamonds mixed in so the balloons sparkle.

It is difficult to be apart for birthday’s. However I know Pierce will feel the love when he opens the box we sent.

I hope you have an amazing day. Thanks for stopping by!
